Try rebooting in to Safe mode. You can then apply the new advertising drivers, remove the malware "work", and then restart a fresh.

I learned pretty fast that spending the weekend indoors doing drugs does not keep me safe from oopses on the net. :/

One of the very very very few shit things about my job is there is pretty much no weekday or weekend. You always have to be ready to work regardless of day or time.

That usually isn't difficult work, and often times quite fun, but you can forget setting aside quality 'guy time' to sit in the bathroom for an hour and catch up on your reading. The second your ass hits the seat the phone is bound to ring or someone is bound to check in. :P
