Ancient-Red-Dragon: I'm not sure why it matters if there is one or not.

How would the alleged "10th Anniversary sale" be any different than any of GOG's other big sales? IMO it wouldn't.

The same games that have been on sale in their other big sales would also be on sale again, at around the same prices as in GOG's previous big sales.

The few ones that have a newly-large discount would have it because of those game's age, not because it is an Anniversary sale and the devs have a special sentimental attachment to GOG. And those same new discounts would also occur regardless of whether it's called the 10th Anniversary sale, or the Back to School sale, or the Fall sale, or any other name.

So why are so many people hyped as if the 10th Anniversary sale would bring something new to the table like they've never seen on GOG before?
Well then, you're not invited to the party you Debby-downer.

To be honest, I am not that hyped about a sale... There have been several every week, and a big one two weeks ago.

But one can dream about big releases of games that aren't still on GOG, or some massive giveaways (there weren't any free games, not even in the form of rewards, during Back to School).

i think much of the enthusiasm in regards to gog's 10th anniversary is fueled by the possibility of some big name releases (civ 5, skyrim, etc) and not just the idea of cheap games. because frankly im a bit tired of sales myself but there are plenty of titles that gog doesn't have that id pick up in a heartbeat if released.

seaspanky: Four years ago in 2014 GOG.com celebrated their 6th year anniversary with a special promotion.

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/gog-celebrates-six-years-of-advancing-the-drm-free/1100-6422150/

It was a sale that changed daily and that featured a selection of games from a single year of GOG releases. The first day 2008 GOG releases, the second day 2009 GOG releases, etc... Something special for a special occasion. I think we deserve something like that at some point this month. Seeing a Flash sale again is nice, but it is no 10th Anniversay Celebration.
Then maybe their special promo will be another 6 years from that date. :p

Very valid point there. They'll be doing something around that either way, quite clearly.
