On Steam I have my content filtered to exclude sexual content, and LGBTQ among other filters. On GOG I have mandatory inclusion in pride correspondence and far too many sales pitches for Leisure Suit Larry. This inclusion extends beyond the storefront to my homepage. I was under the impression (based on GOG notices) that the homepage was a collection of things I want to see or might want to see. Nothing in my library says I like sex or LGBTQ in my games.

On June 6 2023 I reached out to GOG support, hoping to get an opportunity to ask a simple question, "What options do I have to opt-out of LBGTQ/Pride content?" I'm still waiting with no end in sight. This leaves me thinking I really only have a single choice to not purchase from GOG. I don't need video games. Absolutely nothing bad will happen if I don't buy or play another game. I don't need GOG.

I know that most of the people inclined to respond to this post are firmly planted on the good ship LGBTQ and will suffer nothing but acceptance for the lifestyle. If that's you then cool. That isn't everyone though, and there are people like myself who are unwilling to tolerate having ideologies that we don't believe in forced upon us. I'm also aware that as an individual consumer, I will not be missed and I'm fine with that. The first person to boycott Disney wasn't missed either, ditto for Bud Light and Target.

God gave us all free will. Use yours as you will, I'll do likewise. Cheers.

Is it really so hard to just ignore the games you don't want? For 5379 games on the store, there are about 4186 that I didn't buy. That wasn't so hard.

Edit: I was wrong, you can filter by tags. See the post below.

GOG doesn't currently have an option to filter out games, such as adult/LGBTQ titles. You can check this thread for a potential workaround.

You've got 246 games in your account, do you really need more?
Just stop buying on Gog. They're not going to change, their site is an irredeemable mess which won't be updated to include new features, and you'll either be ignored or mocked and labeled a bigot for your request.

I'm just going to treat your post as a 100% serious demand for a solution (and totally not a cry for help) because the solution is super duper easy.

I really do mean to the extent that if the forum cat lady who wants to fill her game collection with more cats knows what to do, then these very easy steps can be accomplished by absolutely anyone who only wants to play games full of manly guy doing manly things can do it as well.

Steps:

1. Go to this link to browse the entire store.
https://www.gog.com/en/games

2. Scroll down on the left side until you see tags. If you type in the name of the tag you don't want, you can highlight the word than click on the eye (immediately to the right of the word) to hide it. Here's some tags for you to copy and paste to hide:

Female Protagonist
LGBTQ+

Mature
NSFW
Nudity
Sexual Content

Note: If you want to take things a step further, you can hide the tags Cats, Casual, Family Friendly, and Relaxing to hide most (if not all) of the really cute games. There is no cute tag.

3. Once you've done hiding all of the above tags, bookmark your results in your browser. There you go.

which god are you talking about? if it is the Abrahamic God of the bible (as an American that is most likely), he is one of the gods with all the omnis. which means that he knew what you where going to do, he even planed for it, before you where even born. so that means you have no free will but are just a puppet going through god's plan.

(the concept of free will is interesting, both in atheist and theist philosophies)

Sadly Steam offers only that one and only filter and no others. There are no filters for art style (don't need no anime), gameplay (builder simulations, tractor sims) or whatever else comes to your mind.

Sauch a half baked solution I don't need on GOG. I rather wait for something complete.

This solution, while it is good and it is working, is likely to filter games tagged: NSFW/LGBT, OP may already own, play or would be likely to purchase. Off the top of my head I can think of StarWars Knights of the Old Republic, The BG saga (old and EE/Beamdog), *A Hat in Time, Pathfinder, ...

*A child-friendly game, tagged only because developers placed a rainbow flag in an hidden alley in one of the DLC. You will agree that this doesn't warrant an LGBT tag. Neither the game nor its content is in any way 'inclusive' (however that's possible in games, where this is a non-issue, as developers can implement anything they wish to, or don't.

I wish they would replace the LGBT with single tags reflecting the actual content. The purpose is not to use a catch-all to cover all bases, but to help discover games with certain content, for example:

Flowers (series): Lesbian, Yuri
Kindred Spirits on the Roof: Lesbian, Yuri
A Year of Springs: Transgender
SW: KOTOR: Gay, Lesbian (leaving out romance here on purpose)
...

I anticipate the argument that 'Bi' should also be included in many cases.' The reason I think this is not the case is because tags (LGBTQ or single tags) should not reflect customers personal sexual preference(s) or gender, but presenting only those games customers with a certain sexual preference or specific *options they like to have or know it exists in a game. I would argue that it is easier to identify interesting titles, if customers are not forced to wade through 5 or 10 pages to discover titles catching their interest. That's much the same argument I would make for the introduction of an [i]hide or not interested function. Why bother customers with games they will never be interested in and waste their time?[/i] Here, again, I am not preferring a broadstroke solution for it: Hide all games with content x, because algorithms can't determine what I like or don't like based on tags. If I hid games tagged tactical, strategy... many RP titles would also be hidden. It would essentially lead to the same problem as when OP is going to use the method you have suggested.

*options: Pronouns, visual adaption of PC in a character menu (Cyberpunk, Scholasta etc.)... This should be added in the marketing blurp on the main page of the game, otherwise the tag list will just end up being bloated. The same can be said when it comes to the use of the umbrella-term LGBT; Iff a game is considered inclusive, and if a developer or publisher thinks they should tell their prospective audience that it is, than this is also a good place to say so and describe WHY it is inclusive. Referring back to A Hat in Time, just adding and hiding a flag someplace in a game, does that really show inclusiveness? As developers of this game argued it would show their 'support'.

In short: There is not much to argue about against the wish to become able to permanently hide content.
Making it possible to hide any game, on a case-by-case basis, or - if someone so wishes to permanently exclude games with certain content (and that can be anything, RTS, Sports, Retro), it would make it easier and less time-consuming browsing the shop, without risking the exclusion of titles based on tags, a person may hold an interest in. Maybe I should add one other personal reason in favour of permanently hiding games: stuck in beta, abandoned games, no support,... For GOG this can also only translate to making more sales in a shorter amount of time; besides also satisfying their customers who are again more likely to come back and buy more games.

I think you've got the experiences of those two groups of people mixed up.

Just vote with your dollars, no point to spend money here anymore.
They are no longer in the business of curating and selling products, and nothing will change that, their loss.
When I want to support a developer I'll contact them to see if there's a way to give them money, if not, oh well.

You'll get the typical normie response here always to make you feel like your perspective doesn't matter, but it does, and thanks for sharing it.

You know what. I'm just going to be brutally honest on this issue - As a member of the female gender, I really do not care at all about males who feel threatened by games that they think don't validate their existence. I will not be loosing sleep if filter tags would cause people like OP to miss out on some awesome games, especially when they would most likely find those games to be too inclusive in the first place.

If they're adults, they need to start acting like adults and just use the filter tags.

For me, Catventurer already posted the solution to this. We have no way of knowing what level of reference to LGBT might trigger the OP - maybe a rainbow is enough.
