RogueXanter: I'm still hoping that the 50th anniversary of Star Trek mean we will get more Trek games (Getting all of them would be incredible)
rampancy: I really wouldn't hold my breath. A lot of people were expecting either more Star Wars games or a big Star Wars sale on GOG with the release of Force Awakens, and neither of those things happened. Omnimaxus

Wow. Looks like this discussion got a lot of activity while I was gone.
Thanks to everyone who responded. See what 2016 brings us in the way of classic games.

mrkgnao: Actually, how it's pronounced is a matter of contention. IIRC, I've heard twitch streams in which the presenters pronounced it "gog" (as in "log", "cog", etc.).
I think we old uns have been affected by TET's pronunciation, in his mortal "This Week on G-O-G" series.
You're absolutely right in suggesting that it fluctuates and, ultimately, doesn't really matter. Plenty of online news sites and people still think of GOG as "Good Old Games" anyway. I think we old uns have been affected by TET's pronunciation, in his mortal "This Week on G-O-G" series.
rampancy: I really wouldn't hold my breath. A lot of people were expecting either more Star Wars games or a big Star Wars sale on GOG with the release of Force Awakens, and neither of those things happened.
RogueXanter: Well there aren't many Star Wars games not already on GOG that I know of so I wasn't expecting that. But there are tons of Star Trek games GOG hasn't released yet. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Star_Trek_games#Computer
It might not need to be said to you, but my advice, if you're the type of person to get "emotional" about GOG releases: coming from somebody who's been here a while, be really careful not to get your hopes up (at least too high), because if you're emotionally invested then you could be perpetually crushed when the game you want to see here never gets released.
But do take a few minutes to vote for games you want to see here (if you haven't already) - https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games

tfishell: I, and I believe Sinistar, got contact info for Doug Bell and Wayne (and passed it on to GOG), but nothing ever turned out from that, either. (Same with OMF2097) I never really considered the "personal" side of this, though. Sometimes best to let sleeping games lie I guess, or whatever the phrase is.
That was a few years ago. 2013? That was exactly the time when Mr Holder stopped to communicate with anybody. I think IAmSinistar contacted Mr Bell and got the info there that the DM right are with Mr Holder.JMich

This fact tends to slip the mind of a lot of people. There are plenty of older games that will simply never be re-sold due to certain circumstances, a lot of the time it's personal circumstances.

Not yet, I treat them like pre-orders, so not counting them as "Releases" just yet.
I will eventually add two more columns, "InDev introduced in year" and "InDev released in year", one for new InDev games and one for the games that reach version 1.0 and are released.

Some of the meanest words ever uttered. Just reading those words made me wince.
Frankly, everything is 'classic', or at least will be one day. Just stare at your watch and be patient for a few moments. Another batch of classic games should be arriving soon. After all, we are now in a world where gamers yearn to go back to the 'simpler' days of the PS3 and 360. I wish someone would slow this roller coaster down a bit. Time progression speed is not optimal.

And don`t forget Amiga, which is a much higher level of complicated. Many good old games were first released on Amiga, for example Railroad Tycoon, Civilization, Bloodwych, The Bards Tale trilogy and so on.

Many games in the late 80's and early 90's have found their definitive version on Amiga, because of 32 colors (instead of EGA 16 because VGA became wide spread) and the superior sound. Amiga can be emulated rather easily and perfectly, except for a few stubborn games with extensive hardware-hacking. I find getting a game to run smoothly in (Win)UAE a lot more painless than configuring DOSBox.
The problem is not the emulation, it's the copyright on the Kickstart ROMS.

Luckily I own the Amiga Classix Gold Box, which contains WinUAE including the ROMs, but it doesn`t contain the games I really want.
