I, and I believe Sinistar, got contact info for Doug Bell and Wayne (and passed it on to GOG), but nothing ever turned out from that, either. (Same with OMF2097) I never really considered the "personal" side of this, though. Sometimes best to let sleeping games lie I guess, or whatever the phrase is.

JMich: 2015 had 308 releases, 64 (21%) of which were pre-2K ones, 94 (31%) being 10+ years old, and 94 (31%) being day one releases.

More info here. Will have to remember to update the data with the latest few releases.
Could you please offer the numbers for 2016 to date (i.e. just the last 6 weeks)?

apehater: if it's not much work for you, then i'd be very interested in the same statistics but divided into

games originally released before 1995 | games originally released between 1995-2005 | games originally released after 2005 in 2008 on gog, 2009 on gog, 2010 on gog, ... 2015 on gog
Until JMich does this, you have something similar in Table I of MaGog's metrics, but with different year ranges (1980-9, 1990-9, 2000-9, 2010-9) and probably using a slightly different methodology than JMich.

thanks, according to that table gog definitely had more new releases (after 2010) then old ones. if this trend moves on, then they surely remove "old" from their title "good old games" (without any announcement = the gog way) at some point and we'll end up with "good games" :(

I'm still hoping that the 50th anniversary of Star Trek mean we will get more Trek games (Getting all of them would be incredible)

I would also love more of the Goldbox goodies like the Spelljammer game and the Buck Rogers games, and all of the Mechwarrior/Battletech, Earthseige plus Starseige and the Heavy Gear games.

They already removed "Good Old Games", back in, like, late 2012 or so. It's just GOG (pronounced "Gee Oh Gee") now.

Not exactly. You might want to look at Table IX, which shows that GOG has added by far more "Good Old Games" in 2015 than in any preceding year (44, second best is 2011 with "only" 32).

Actually, how it's pronounced is a matter of contention. IIRC, I've heard twitch streams in which the presenters pronounced it "gog" (as in "log", "cog", etc.).

I think we old uns have been affected by TET's pronunciation, in his mortal "This Week on G-O-G" series.

Many old games are on the

theisozone.com

Until they can be sold here, no one prevents you from trying/playing one or two... Especially the ones that have been forgotten and sealed within time's vault.

I really wouldn't hold my breath. A lot of people were expecting either more Star Wars games or a big Star Wars sale on GOG with the release of Force Awakens, and neither of those things happened.

I might be stupid (well, I'm definitely stupid, but I might be more stupid than usual in this case), but is there a link somewhere on either the main MaGog search page or the TuTorial page that goes to that metrics page? I could swear that there used to be, but I haven't been able to find it in my last couple (admittedly pretty cursory) attempts to do so.

I think the official party line, as it were, is that it's "jee oh jee", but, in practice, most users (including streamers and some staff) do seem to rhyme it with "dog". (Not counting the many who still call it "Good Old Games", of course.)

Main page, about three quarters of the page down, just below the "options", one line above all the verbiage at the bottom, immediately to the right of the "ChangeGog" and "TuTorial" buttons. You might need to scroll down, as I have been adding features to MaGog (e.g. Profiles, Options) which have pushed it down.

I believe the official party line is that the pronunciation, like everything else on GOG, is inconsistent.

I definitely do the former. Saying "gee oh gee" always sounded dumb to me, even when it still was Good Old Games. Now that it stands for nothing, it sounds even worse to me when pronounced that way.

Ah, I see it. I knew I was just stupid! =D I think I just glossed over those 'cause it looks like a button for the search engine. Did they always look like that, or was that a somewhat recent change?

Never changed.
