8k is for peasants. I'm holding out for 65,536k gaming at 16,777,216 fps. Master Race! Sneer, Sneer. (Did I do it right?...)

J Lo: I'm still on 1080p. I think most people can't even do 4K without serious frame drops.

Abishia: believe it or not i still encounter videogames that can't even be run at 4K (and i not means FPS) i talking about the UI settings, and written texts (you need also double the Text size to read 4K.
That's why I couldn't play the HD versions of the Age of Empires games. The text was so small it strained my eyes to try and see what it is. Thankfully the remake fixed that.

You seriously need to stop reading those certain other e-peen addiction based forums then creating "guilt" based threads here based on what the more snobbish fringe members of those other forums sh*t-post over there. Reality = 80% of the market are on 1080p or lower, another 10% on 1440p, 4k is barely 2% and 8k virtually non-existent.

Pro-tip - Unless you own a giant screen (which are often rubbish for ergonomics when sitting close to, eg, increased head / neck movements, the urge to constantly lean back to see the top of the screen and increased fatigue during longer sessions), or are into pro photo editing, 4k isn't even desirable on normal sub 32" size monitors due to the way UI / HUD's don't scale well in many older games.

+1. As a couch PC gamer with a 4K TV, I mostly play stuff at 1080p anyway, and some older games at 720p because of HUD scaling. I mean I could play stuff at 4K, I'd just have to get me some of them CP2077 cybernetic eyes.
640k is plenty for anyone. (As is misattributed to the great William Gates III.)

The only reason I'd even consider 8K is...I mean no, there's no reason. I'm already legally blind with corrective lenses, hyperbolic levels of pixels is just no need for me. I'd need a screen the size of the Jeopardy video board to even consider such a hilariously high number of pixels. I'm still rocking 1080 and plan to do so for the foreseeable future.

I mean when you consider the size of physical IMAX film, the race to the bottom is just stupid.

That and extreme heat from their graphics card that needs liquid helium for cooling and games Look exactly the same at 4k as they do at 320x200 resolution

GeraltOfRivia_PL: When did you move to 8k gaming?

Did you start feeling shame about not being on 8k?
I haven't.
I'm only running a RTX 3070 here.
I mean, I have about, let's see... 1, 2, 3, 4... 3.7Mpx on my main display, that's quite far beyond 8k by my count. My first computer had about 307k, I'm quite certain I never was at 8k. Even my PocketPC phone was at 77k... oh, wait, my calculator was at 8k, that was back in high school about 20 years ago.

8k? :)) I'm still doing well with my 14 y/o 1280x1024 monitor. Been looking at 1440p for the next computer, but if I may build that computer by the end of the year, maybe, to add that monitor to it we're likely talking more years down the line.
And I really see no way for an 8k resolution to be relevant to gaming. 1440p would normally need a monitor larger than 30" to make for comfortable viewing. 4k would already mean a size definitely not suited for a desk, or for regular computer use if you ask me. 8k? Screw that. May make sense for high-end home theaters for film buffs, but that's it.
What. I moved onto 16k back in 1983.

We're talking about RAM, right?
