I'm now at ep.5 and, i developed a new skill :-)

In the first couple of episodes of this 2d season i went like " huh " or " was this???" and even " now i do need to read the books again " but now, after this episode my brain is all like : " you know, dear one.... The way the events are currently unraveling.. I mean, this could be a truth right? Only some parts of the story are taken with liberty, and of course, a book needs to be portrayed differently to fit the tv show ( is this still a thing? or should it be called a streaming show?? ). " And i'm really like : " uhm yea, you could be right " and " Selene is to hot to be true so that helps in a lot of ways " -Brain : " yea, yea we have thing for bad women though usually not this old of age " and not to forget " the portraial of those Seanchanens is pretty cool too "

But.... don't get me wrong here.... I mean, wasn't this happening with the Witcher too? Up to season 2 there was only a little discontent but afterwards hell literally broke loose... People burning their netflix subscriptions. Actors blowing the whistle. The writer who proclaims to add a new chapter to the books just to burn out this evil memory the streaming series turned into.

Will dis happen with the Wheel too?
This series is not that bad, some of the sets (enhanced by computer graphics) and costumes are done at a high level. However, the liberties taken with the plot and the juggling of characters (some of them appearing in the most unexpected places, while others are simply cut) really bother me.

Nevertheless, I would recommend this series to those who haven't read the books, as well as to those who have read them and enjoyed the series.

But if you haven't read the books, be sure to do so after watching.

With that, I bid you farewell until better times.

Yes, these are dark times indeed.

WoT are you talking about?

hah :-)

Well i can imagine some do feel like this. Mart going his own way, then being send of by that Red Ajah women and Min as the lice.... for one. The 1st meeting between Rhand and nobility. The scarce appearance of the 'royal bard'. Times short i presume and as i said in my starting post. It ain't to hard to see that the story could have gone like it is being shown in the streamed content I would be a glad WoT reader if they managed to keep up apearances in this manner.
One of the last scenes in the last episode with Lan and Moiraine was just wrong.

I'm all for adaptations of book to screen like with A Song of Ice and Fire->Game of Thrones, but if you're going to lift lore from the books then you have to be consistent with it. Especially if it's fundamental to the whole world.
I gave up on this adaptation of my beloved series after season one. I watched a couple of episodes of season two and all I can say is...the Dark Oner has taken over the series...may the light shine on us all...

I don't mind adaptations, if done right, but this one is just so out of bounds, on so many levels. Quality sounds and visuals are always wonderful to have, not to mention good acting, but warping the story too much is just heartbreaking to me. It takes away more than it gives.

At this point, they'd have been better off just creating a new series, loosly based on the WOT world itself. I mean, they could have even done a Lews Therin era series.
.
The show shines when it sticks closer to the books (Episode 6 of Season 2 is a good example, has the Egwene damane arc) but the showrunner takes a lot of liberties with plot elements and I'm concerned he's not thinking through the long-term implications of them.

Oh well. I'll always have the books!

The reactions to adaptations of beloved book series, like "The Wheel of Time," can be mixed, especially when creative liberties are taken. Fans' opinions often evolve over time, and the success of an adaptation depends on how well it balances staying faithful to the source material with the need for adaptation. The ultimate impact on the fan community can be unpredictable, but adaptations can introduce the story to new audiences and encourage reading the original books.

This is something i heard more often. I can imagine the collaboration of a writer or his descendant could be done for that reason, as one of the reasons... though i won't believe, especially in this time, that this reason is in any way on the primary or the secondary goal list of the initiators.

Nah... i'm just happy i developed a new skill. To recognize not a deviation or a change but to understand a deeper meaning in how a told story is reimagined for another medium. Which i wanted to share with the followers of this ancient forum hoping to share and to gain :-D

btw.... The wish has been expressed by the creators to stay more true to the books in coming seasons.
