Technically I'm neutral with slightly leaning into derision; I do understand the idea behind achievements, but I do feel by and large, many of them are completely pointless metrics disguised as advancements, or they're joystick wagging contests over very pointless feats, such as "stick your fingers in the plug 100 times and get our ring of electrical resistance. (two ohms.)"

I like them if they do not require galaxy; I do not like them if they do require galaxy.
For the former, I attempt to 100% them only for games I really love and only if they don't require mindless grinding. Otherwise, I just go for low hanging fruit.

In-game = master game design, timeless, bonus points if doing them actually grants roguelite-like bonuses. Because it takes a lot more effort and skill to hardcode it into the game, the achievements feature will outlive clients centuries into the future, and the roguelite-like bonuses enhances the gameplay.
Kingdom Rush original is the best example of this since doing all these difficult missions to get stars on that level grants you more points to buff up your units and skills.
Client and/or telemetry = absolutely no way.

I can take them or leave them, but in the end I will happily have a game here with no Achievements then not having the game at all.

If some pirate running his compression setup on his mother's attic can get a much better compression ratio, it disappoints me that a proper company like GOG can't.
Compressing the installers even further will slow down the installation process, unless they change for a more efficient encoder, wich to be honest is not a bad idea. If I correctly remember, GOG installers are single threaded but don't quote me on that.
That said, at this moment I'd rather GOG don't touch the installers setup at all.

I despise all achievements and wish they were never invented.
