If you had a bottomless bank account and contact with the best game devs on the planet, what game would you like made and why? (assume any and all licences are available but no magic technology that doesn't exist)
I think I'd want to make Dr Who games. I think there's massive potential in the licence which the previous games have never tapped. Who am I kidding, tapped? They've never been in the same fucking room as the potential! I'm thinking to keep it in line with the series, the games would be episodic and roughly the same length as the Telltale Sam & Max games.
I'd probably start by making a new doctor just so there's a blank slate and I can go back to a colin baker style middle aged & cranky character which has always been my favourite.
What would you guys/gals/other make?
I would give a blank check to Tim Schafer and Ron Gilbert and have them make another Monkey Island game with the SCUMM engine.
Also I would pay a ridiculous amount of money to have Planescape: Torment with next-gen graphics and even more story than the one they managed to tell in the original game.
Another one: i would pay the developers of Homeworld to do a series of space-rts based on the setting of Battlestar Galactica.
These are just the first things that came up in my mind :-P
My dream game would be one that combines the open world of Daggerfall(but with better graphics !!!), the awesome gameplay of Thief, and driving controls of the GTA III line (not 4 because it is made of suck apparently) all set in a modern day environment(I'm thinking a big city with skyscrapers and such) where I can plunder to my heart's content and drive off with my loot and have cool modern-day thieving tools at my disposal. Sorry but I don't live in medieval times and I just want a modern version of Thief that doesn't need to have Garret in it. I just want a game where I steal modern stuff.
Another dream game would be: a hacking sim that would make Uplink and any of its clones pale in comparison with its usage of hacking tools and an almost overwhelming variety of hacking tasks/things to break into. Plus, it would have an awesome interface that would be pleasing to the eye and most of all would appeal to the evil/slightly bent geek in me. And it would also be an open world sim because screw "The End" damnit.
Your Dr Who idea made me think of the game of the film of the book, BladeRunner.
For a new prospect, I'd make some sort of crazy mix of Ultima, Jagged Alliance, Baldurs Gate and Fallout.
It's such an awesome prospect even I can't fully realise its potential...

That would be too much awesome for this universe to handle...careful with that.
complex retro s-f rpg with hours of gameplay.
twist:
Your mission is to destroy the world/take it over.
In how many rpgs can you actually be the evil dude who is attacked by dudes in shining armours?
KOTOR 1 was kinda okay. but it was just the ending.
other game
VtM: Bloodlines 2
Deus Ex 3 : The Non-FAIL Version.

THIS.
I'd like a game, controlled by an AI that adapts the entire play style and genre to my particular tastes of the day. Also, it would be able to rewrite and update itself, whenever it gains access to new technology.
Also, it would use advanced overlays (such as future iterations of this), as much as I hate things like 2nd life, it's more because its so darn primitive to what the future holds.

and the name of this game shall be SkyNet.
Apple Tycoon -- design the same products each year and resell it as new!
They've already got something similar, it's called Madden

I like that game, don't diss.
I'd pay the team behind the Civilization IV-mod Fall from Heaven 2 to make it into a professional, full game. Civ IV + FFH is almost the perfect game already, but I'd love to see what they could do with a proper budget and modern game engine.
I'd like Dungeon Keeper 3. Made by someone with no affiliation with EA whatsoever.
