Seriously, I would report them, but it seems threads go up because posters with one post or so...
Why would you report a necro, is it against the law?

Well, I don't mind them and the forum has other greater issues.

Necromance if you want to, we won't leave a thread behind. Because the threads don't die and if they don't die then we can't let them lie.

I said, necromance if you want to, if you don't nobody will. And I will bump up the thread where you said Cena's dead; you bump me talking like an imbecile.

Necromance.
GOG doesn't exactly have a system in place to inform users they're about to revive a thread from 1612, arguing if colonizing the new word was really such a good idea.

There's things like Barefoot Essentials that helps make it blindingly obvious, but not everyone has that, of course.

If you start a new thread people sometimes get mad at you because you didn't just add to an old one. Im not saying thats how these particular forums work, but its something I have run into many times on many different forums. Because of that I try not to let necromancy bother me.

Have you ever been to boards that ban thread necromancy, but also throw a fit if you don't use search before starting a new topic? Yeah, those places are absolutely wonderful.

I think it comes from people googling and finding really old threads, then feeling the need to jump in on them before checking the date.

There is no such thing as necromancing, other than in the fantasy genre of fiction. Nothing is wrong with replying to threads. That's good, not bad.

This thread, however, has no value and hence is spamming up the forums in ways that the legit threads the OP is complaining about do not.

It does serve one purpose: making fun of him for doing so.

On the flip side, one thing that has annoyed me is an issue that has come and gone ,and someone brings it back from the dead. Like "dude, i don't even remember this discussion, and you're trying to address my tone?"

I would suspect it's because darkness has fallen across the land, the midnight hour is close at hand, creatures are crawling in search of blood to terrorize y'all's neighborhood...y'know, that sort of thing.

I think it might be set to Safety Dance.

Yes, necro is against the law dr Victor. If not, next thing you know people gonna scavenge cemetery and assemble monsters from body parts.
If the poster has something to add to the thread, or is experimenting the same issue/problem, what's the problem? Maybe they have something interesting to add. And frankly, I enjoy reading past posts and see how (sometimes) views and opinions change.

For news, sales or announcements that are very old I can see why they could be annoying because they probably no longer apply. Other than closing news threads automatically after a certain time, there's not much that can be done. Not that I expect a forum software upgrade.

Maybe it's nothing so nefarious. It doesn't always have to come down to superstition, fear, and jealousy. Perhaps it's just, I dunno...Dead threads are the ones, that look like most fun. Slipping though replies, don't let good posts die.
Don't let good posts die.
Dead threads have no votes, no losing rep (we hope), So let them all pitch in, necro ain't no sin.
