Dear GOG Support Team members!

I was encouraged to address you by the rest of Russian-speaking fan community of the Banner Saga series.

Unfortunately, there is virtually no way to check the build version for any given product on the GOG Store before purchasing it. This is how I was baited into buying Banner Saga just for the sake of paying homage to Stoic and gaining access to the latest OS X build of one of my favorite games (in fact, I grew sick of running pirated copies in Wine, but really hated Steam for its bulk of annoying features that are force-fed to the client)

I was utterly shocked to learn that the current build of the game at GOG is a mere 2.36.16 while the scene delivers a fully working 2.42.50 and so does Steam.

Then I spotted a GOG Galaxy ad promisising timely patches and what not; I was foolish enough to proceed and install Banner Saga via GOG Galaxy but guess what, it didn't offer me anything better than the same 2.36.16 (I thought it stood to reason that major patches could be integrated into the standalone installer but minor ones can only be acquired with an online updater; how wrong I was!)

Now I'm into some huge trouble when it comes to refund -- just because I downloaded the game to check if there were any patches available via GOG Galaxy.

I hear there's not much love between GOG and Stoic and certain Banner Saga patches took two or three months to make it into the GOG Store, but please try to understand that it's not a reason for us, your most trustful buyers, to suffer. I'm not really good at English phraseology, but in Russian we call this kind of approach "goosefuckery"

I fully understand that it's mostly a Stoic issue, but maybe (just maybe) you could get in touch with them and kindly ask them to update their GOG build of the game? Along, perhaps, with Banner Saga 2? I don't know which version BS2 is on the GOG Store but these two games are live classics and totally deserve to be updated.

I filed a Tech Support ticket (#100591) regarding this issue, asking for a refund. But I would very much prefer an updated copy of Banner Saga that I can run on OS X without any of that nasty Steam stuff.

Even if it takes some months! But please -- please -- just give us some info if it's ever possible.

P.S. It's a shame that your buyers can't check the current GOG build version for any given game before buying it.

Hello again,

Checked with our Producer and there's a fun GoG update coming soon.

Thank you again for checking in!
This is what they told me, but Banner Saga is still not the latest version.

So I opened another ticket.
Banner Saga updated to 2.48.10
Banner Saga 2 updated to 2.48.04

CHEERS!

Just a fyi, we just had a pair of lengthy discussions about this issue. Here's one of them:

https://www.gog.com/forum/general/perception_wont_get_any_updates_on_gog_because_devs_have_issues_with_gog/page1

Can't find the other right off.

edit: Here it is:

Staff has previously pointed at staffing shortages which is probably what's causing this as well.
