Just because I haven't posted this in a while. :D

I used to have one, it finally went out last year. I've got a Deathadder Chroma & like it even better than the MX518.

It's surprising that so many mouse making companies don't understand you can place your fingers on all the top buttons leaving your thumb and small finger to lift the mouse and press side buttons.

Even sensibly placing mouse sensor buttons allowing you to easily change the sensor strength quickly but no they always hide it below the scroll wheel which is awkward to press.

The best gaming mouse I've ever used was the Logitech G500, followed closely by the 502, named Proteus Core. The G500 was better, though. However, the switches they used didn't hold up for more than a year at a time for me. I got it replaced, and then when they wouldn't replace it again, I went with a different model.

This is what i've been using for years; great mouse, very comfortable during extended use (at least for my average sized hands), it is quite precise in gaming (even in fast paced FPS or Flight Sims where there is a clickable cockpit with lots of tiny buttons) even though i guess not in the extend of more pricier "gaming" mice, the buttons are very quiet and have a nice feel and the wheel isn't rolling smoothly like in other mice but it is more defined (you can hear the clicking when you roll it, which is what i prefer for gaming). Other than gaming, it has also been used extensively for photo editing in Darktable (Linux) & music production in REAPER.

Durability is excellent; i've been using the same M90 for almost 10 years and the only reason i replaced it with another M90 sometime ago, was just because the plastic cover became more shiny rather than matte and the price justifies such silly excuses, especially after that much use it has seen.

Speaking of pricing, i bought it for 5€ during some sales. After i've used it for a while, i went and bought another 4 of them during some other sales. :)

Gaming?

I inherited a Kensington Expert Trackball.

I would say, the Logitech G5 (refresh) I once had, and the G500s I am currently using are on the same level as the best mice I ever used. I also like the M705 that I use at work, and am always fascinated about the 2 years runtime on just two AA batteries.

Logitech mice do tend to get issues with their buttons after a few years though, but it's actually not that difficult to replace the buttons on them. I did this on my G500s, since the new model with that shape is just way to expensive in my opinion.

Too bad that's the mouse I promised to gift to someone. :( I hope the other, cheaper, 6.90€ Trust mouse is good too, or at least adequate.

Then again I don't feel that much difference between mice, they all feel pretty much the same to me so that's why I generally buy 10€ mice over 100€ mice. Plus the more expensive (gaming) mice also seem to be bulkier and bigger, which is less useful when keeping them with a laptop.

The mouse served me quite well, roughly around 2 years of heavy gaming. Still works in most part but as of late the wheel button is a hit or miss. It has served me well for the price I paid, might have to replace it soon though.

I'm still using the Logitech G3 I bought 10-11 years ago, still works great

Been using a Logitech G9x for six years and grown quite attached to it. The greater width and lower profile make it feel more natural to handle to me.

I wish I had bought a spare before they discontinued it. I learned my lesson with good shoes, but unfortunately not with good gaming peripherals. The prices for used ones today are higher than what I originally paid for it.
