LynXsh: Does Dwarf Fortress count?
Uhm, sure why not :) I probably should check out the game one day since I can't remain ignorant about it forever. I'm a little worried that it might be one of those games that is really difficult to let go of once you get going :\

Speaking of DF's difficulty...

markrichardb: Expeditions: Viking. It's predecessor Expeditions: Conquistador has long been one of my favourite games on GoG.

Celton88: I've been following this one too. I was a little disappointed they went with Vikings. I feel like that theme has gotten a lot of play recently. I think something like Europeans to Japan or Africa would have been cool. Nevertheless, the mechanics behind the game are good, so hopefully they can dish out a good story!
Vikings certainly aren't as obscure in gaming as conquistadors, that’s for sure! When Obsidian announced its Kickstarter dream game was a common setting fantasy RPG I was a little disappointed, but the end product was fantastic nonetheless. Logic Artists, the studio behind the Expeditions series, hang out in Denmark. Maybe this is a a subject near and dear to them.
Zombasite

Yup, a zombie themed game... oh look, being made by Soldak. Period. ;D

Sovereignty: Crown of Kings

Amazing game. I'm having lotsa fun with it; deep mechanics and a huge world map won't stop me ;0

Last Days of Old Earth

Truly a materpiece already. Man, I love the art on this one..

Can't wait for it. I bought the game since way before it's Steam days... something like 0.4.
The beta is in the very near future, they recently announced... which means it will be feature complete, with just bugs and balance to labour over.
Still won't play the beta, though... I've stuck it out for this long, so what's another half year going to do?
When it releases though, I may bring back the all-nighter binge XD
edit: actually it was 0.29.6 I bought it at. holy shit.

- from what I gathered developers broke their promises about release date at least two times, so lots of people are pissed at them. I found about it relatively recently and haven't invested any money in their kickstarter, so I'm still cautiously optimistic, and it looks like they may finally be near release. It could be decent distraction until [url=http://www.terrariaotherworld.com/]Terraria: Otherworld comes out.

It counts. Heck, there's probably going to be 42.06 soon.

Matewis: I really hope that one is good. There is a a dangerous lack of proper battletech games, and the tactical ones like Mech Commander are the most interesting. At least the original is free these days, but its lengthy campaign is over far too quickly given that there really isn't anything else out there like it, except for its almost-as-good sequel of course.
There really has been a shortage, no, an absence of good mech games for far too long. I think that the main reason for this is that everyone who owns anything almost remotely mech related automatically sues everyone else who tries to release something even vaguely to do with mechs. It's a mutually self-defeating masochistic circle jerk.

I don't think that it was ever a matter of there being a lack of interest in big, stompy mechs blowing seven shades of shit out of each other.

So yes, it's great that finally we're getting a couple of games that seem like they won't be in the firing line of these endless lawsuits. I suppose the mech legal landscape is so pocked with craters that it's now much easier to see a clear path through it.
I've been waiting for Shroud of the Avatar (the spiritual successor to Ultima) and Star Citizen Squadron 42 (the spiritual successor to Wing Commander) as I was a huge Origin fan and especially love Ultima and Wing Commander. Also, Star Citizen is bringing back the actor who played Colonel Blair, who us Wing Commander fans really got attached to, as he was "us". They sold me at the spiritual successor to Wing Commander part, and they sealed the deal with Mark Hamill and John Rhys-Davies and some of the other cast members. I hope they get Thomas F. Wilson to play a part as well.

As for Shroud of the Avatar, to adventure with Shamino, Iolo, Dupre and all the guys again (most of the original guys the characters came from are backing SOTA) and to live in a world like a modern version of Ultima VII's Britannia again is something to look forward to hopefully soon.
