It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

A bland xperia thingy, for Switzerland, and a blander (cheaper, barely functionnal), huh, vodafone thingy? for Greece.

You know, I used to have an Xperia MiniPro. That thing was awesome. Minuscule. Cool sliding physical keyboard. Wonderful object.

Of course, they don't make that sort of thing anymore. Therefore I have now the same iphone-lookalike thingies as everyone.
Samsung Galaxy S5. Works well enough for me - I can run Dosbox on it :)
iPhone6s. Got it free, haven't had a single issue with it, so all good as far as I'm concerned.

I have the 6s plus, love the bigger screen. Don't think I could go back to a smaller screen now LOL

Honestly, that's why I'm afraid to move to the bigger screen.

My daughter had a 5 and liked the smaller screen until I upgraded her to a 6s and now she thinks the 5 is too small. She does not want to jump up to the plus either, but she does like the normal 6.
Samsung imported from Korea.
It has some limitations so it's semi-smart phone here:)
Using my old phone is good enough for me.
The cheapest thing they had in the shop back in 2010 and it spends most of its time in a drawer when I carry my old dumb mobile around with me.
A cheapo Samsung Galaxy Trend Plus something with a slightly broken glass. I got it for free second-hand. In some countries I think it is called "Galaxy (Trend) Duo (2)" or something...

I would otherwise be "fully" happy with it (especially after I bought a new battery to it and installed a newer Android version with Cyanogenmod), but I recently got my SIM upgraded to 4G (LTE), and this phone can do only 3G (UMTS). So I am thinking of getting a new phone just to get 4G capability, sometimes it matters at least if I am to use this phone as a mobile access point for e.g. a laptop or tablet.

I said "fully" because I must admit this model seems to have too little storage space, which limits quite much what I can install into it. I don't have that much extra apps installed into it (merely just the MapFactor navigator, a Firefox browser, some bus schedule app etc., no games or such), but I still constantly run into running out of storage space when trying to update the apps in Google Play. Then I have to remove things from cache, move applications to the external 16GB SD card etc.

That's one thing I don't understand: why do these apps get moved back to the internal storage once in awhile? Those apps that can be moved to the external SD card, I do that to them, but when I check some weeks later, many or all of them have been moved back to the internal storage. Like, WTF?!?

I haven't tested it but to me it would seem that whenever an app in the external storage gets updated by Google Play, Play moves it back to internal storage. So I have to keep moving them again to external storage each and every time after they get updated.

It just feels stupid I have this external gigantisch 16GB SD card in the phone as well, but it is quite underutilized. Well, at least I can keep the MapFactor navigator offline maps (OpenMaps) in there, as well as some videos and music. But I'd want it to be the default place where all applications get installed! Is there some setting for that somewhere?!?!?!?!?!???!?!!!!

Seriously, are we both in 2016 or is that just me?

Gerin: I liked my HTC a lot when I had one of the older models.
Now I have a Note 4 and it's great too.
I had HTC One X few years ago, it was good, but Android was horrible those days. Samsung now is even better than HTC phones, but audio quality is really poor in korean flagships.

eksasol: Mainly I prefer stock Android, but I don't like what Google is doing with their new Pixel phone, which is flagship cost with below flagship hardware, and their privacy invasion has become scarier over the years, although you can't get away from it if you use a smartphone at all.
Couldn't agree more. Pixel looks awful. Also Google ruined once again his long-time care policy for Nexus phones and it's almost as much expensive as iPhone. I think there won't be a success with the Pixel line.

A month or two ago I was surprised to learn that my brother is actually using a Jolla phone (Sailfish), ie. a non-Android, non-iOS and non-MS phone. He had some idealistic motivations for it.

I was quite interested to try it out, mainly to find out if it would be enough for my needs too. Of course the lack of applications could become a problem, but as long as it has an usable calendar, web browser, and I could get a car navigator similar to MapFactor for it, then I think I would be all set.

Then again I am unsure if Jolla is still a thing or have they died already, I recall reading they've already stopped selling phones/tablets and are concentrating on Sailfish OS itself, or something. Dunno.

I miss my old Nokia Symbian phones (E66 etc.), they pretty much did everything I wanted including offline car navigation and web browsing, and didn't try to invade my privacy in any way. Plus, applications would run only if I told them to run, ie. when I need them. Now on Androids we have something like Facebook which eats your battery alive if you are as much as having merely installed it, and not told it to run. Damn spyware which insists on running all the time in the background, spying on everything you do.

Better support for apps installed on the SD card was added to Android recently (2? 3? updates ago) but I guess your mobile is too old. Sorry not up to date knowledge of the Cyanogen OS.

Meaning what Android version(s) exactly? Only for the very latest Android 7.0 "Nougat" something something, or also some updates to some earlier Android branches (e.g. Android 6.x)?

The Android (Cyanogenmod) version I am currently using on this phone is 5.1.1, I haven't checked lately if some newer one has been ported for this. Checking from Cyanogenmod pages, the latest Android version for them is currently 6.0.1 r61 (no Android 7.0 yet I guess), but of course that newest Cyanogenmod version is naturally not necessarily ported to my phone (yet, or ever).

Is it a known "feature" in some Android versions that while apps can be installed on (moved to) external SD cards, they keep moving back to the internal memory at some point? I don't recall seeing this kind of behaviour before, in some Android 4 or 3 versions.

So sorry, I only skimmed through an article about it some time ago and my sense of how much time has passed is terrible so no idea whether it was three months or three years ago. Does the Cyanogen have change logs? It is too long since I visited their website.
I thought telling you that it HAS been changed was worth it even if I cannot supply much details that you could search yourself probably better than I can.
