Everything in life is a distraction from the inevitable end of such.

Actually, you resist temptation, after you meet it, get to know it inside out, "reverse-engineer" it of sorts and "master"/"conquer" it; by developing its complete opposite/antidote/countermeasure. Much like how the correspondence between sin and virtue goes. And the archetype of yin and yang. You cannot hope to repent, if you haven't sinned first. And the worst "sinners" of all, the ones usually beyond salvation, are the forcibly-made abstainers.

1. I wish more people could enjoy their similarities instead of their differences, tbh.

2. One CAN be sad and not want to/feel like bitching about it, so i guess it's sorta different enough.

TBH i'd rather be a sinner than a saint...sinners have more fun as the song goes.

Also giving into temptation can be devilish good fun sometimes.

You know something? There are real "SAINTS" among the "sinners"... And sometimes, having fun, might lead you into serious, unexpected, fateful encounters...

The only bad sin, is the type of sin that harms others. There are sins that borderline work miracles and are even beneficial for people, really...

I know the feeling. I lost several collections of stuff in a disaster. After the shock wore off, which took some great deal of time, eventually I grew more and more at peace with this life event. Possessions are ultimately just transitory things but nothing will replace the emotions you got out of the magazines at the time.

You might find yourself saying "Oh, I should have done this or that to prevent them from being destroyed." but as they say, hindsight is always 20/20. It might not even be hindsight at all. Maybe there was nothing you could do to prevent this from happening. Ultimately, this is not your fault because pointless bad shit happens all the time without reason or purpose.

One day all of your things will be decayed and rotten, and some day after that Planet Earth itself might possibly die, but you as of today are alive, and you're able to remember the joy and the engagement reading those magazines brought you.

You'll be OK, friend. This too shall pass.

oh no. :|

there's purpose to all the "pointless bad shit happening". because for all the pointfull good shit to happen, you need some of that "pointless bad shit happening".

1. If the serious fateful encounters leave me intact(physically/mentally) and no worse for the wear I say bring em on.

2. This is true.

1. This is all true. I have also lost stuff(my dad threw some stuff out that was mixed with my mom's stuff when she passed. Some of it was old big game boxes from years back.) as well and got over it eventually.

2. Again this is true.

3. You forgot how even if we get off earth to new planets the universe will likely end someday as well.

4. Good advice

fr33kSh0w2012: Today I'm losing all My magazine collection.

These magazines I've had since 1998 and f*cking rats killed them.

I'm legit crying right now, All my wonderful PC mags, Now going to landfill

BTW good idea for a thread....although the bitch about life in general thread owner's might be upset at you butting into their turf. o.0

StingingVelvet: That's a bummer. I sometimes wish I kept my gaming mags. I assume there's an online depository of old mags somewhere?

Today I was made sad by the news that cockroaches are developing an immunity to pesticide.
avatar
GameRager: Is there ANYTHING they aren't or don't become immune to? They are nigh unkillable(well beyond stepping on them I suppose).

TheMonkofDestiny: Not anxiously awaiting the news that feral animals develop immunity to bullets.

GameRager: Ghetto crime would skyrocket then.

My bad...I kid.

The hunters would be upset then, I guess.

KiNgBrAdLeY7: The realization that even if i achieve something, others will blow it up behind my back and scatter it in the winds. And the realization that no matter the level of my skills, everything ends up being in vain. Being the best, yet always ending up far below the tiniest, the lowliest and the worst, is really sad... The only thing that somehow makes it a bit less sad, is that pretty much everything, is already "rigged" and "scripted", even before i step in to act/perform. Sheet!

If someone(even someone I dislike or other dislike) does something funny/good/etc I give them praise for it, not just because it is the right thing to do but the gentlemanly thing to do.

On the flip side, if someone I like or my friends like does something bad/uncalled for I call them on it even if we're friends.

This is just how I am, as a rational human being who tries not to jump to emotional responses & gives everyone a fair shot.

If you dislike me for doing this I apologize if I bothered you but I don't side with/against a person 100% of the time for the most part. I judge each action a person does over time and gauge each accordingly by my other morals/beliefs.

Mostly under the guise of some pushing it as equality/tolerance/whatever PC buzzword they can get ahold of to make it more palatable.

I don't wanna turn this into politics like many other threads, but I see every side there is pushing for their flavor of authoritarianism. They want their guy to enforce their morals onto others, and I don't want any part of it.

That's the part that makes me 'sad', everyone is screaming for more authoritarianism, everyone just wants their flavor of it forced upon others but cry out loud when they're at the receiving end.

I'll leave it at that, just wanted to make it clear that I didn't dog whistle and point my finger in any specific direction.

Your user tag says *Give respect = Get respect* So,where is the respect in putting the boot into someone when they are down? All I see is a idiot doing that and another one applauding because it was funny. You have got to be kidding if that's your idea of funny, joining in and laughing with the bully. I'm sorry but that's how I see it and nothing more you could say will change my mind and you have just lost whatever respect I had for you.EOD.
