I went inside Subway at the prime time, with lots and lots of people inside and I asked a girl out that I've just met. She smiled and said she already has a boyfriend but whew, I am proud of myself! That's one fear less to overcome ;).
This thread is old and digging it up will probably make someone unhappy, sorry about that. I hope it helps others reflect on what ma(kes|de) them happy though.

What made me happy yesterday was that I got a nice birthday present from my dad (a little belated, my birthday is on July 22): a Nikon D5000 - yes, not the best camera out there by far, but a DSLR is at the very least incredibly awesome compared to the (analogue and digital) point-and-shoots I've had in the past (not to mention the phones I've used when I've had no working camera... *shudder*, waiting several seconds waiting for the camera application to load).
Life was made a bit better today when I found some old classic books at the used book store, and also picked up a new "Fukushima Yellow" (my name) high-visibility armored motorcycle jacket for dirt cheap at a local shop. Gonna put on some miles tomorrow when the skies clear of rain.

And the kitchen smells great from some ribs in the oven.

It's the little things...

bansama: Amazon UK just made me very happy today. Found a defect on 3rd DVD of the Ashes to Ashes series 3 set I'd purchased a couple of months ago. As the 30 day returns period had elapsed I asked them if I could still return it.

They told me not to bother returning it (due to shipping costs) and have sent a replacement free of charge =)
I know it's fun to hate on Amazon but I have had a lot of similar, good customer service experiences with them. I happily pay for prime and I tend to shop there first for anything.

I put out some hamburger for home burgers tonight, I haven't made them for like 2 months, bought some avacado and a bunch of other stuff, I agree, the little things make stuff nice.

Also, that jacket sounds epic.

Sounds more dramatic than it is: one of those hi-vis yellow-green colors (almost got hit again yesterday - yay), mesh textile for airflow, and the "armor" is really just padding in the places that will be contacting pavement should the worst happen. I suppose it's not truly armored like some riding jackets that have kevlar in strategic places - you'll find motocross riders using those quite a bit.

And avocado with burgers sounds drool-tastic.
My brother visiting, couple of beers and playing some game-demos with him, games that I didn't know that even existed. Like mini-ninja.
And now.. Some comics and some kind of portion of food.. Then, sleep.
Well, since this thread happened to pop to the top of forums today, and I have cause to be happy:

My brother had his first child, and I became an uncle to a lovely baby girl today. No complications, and it's a beautiful day here. :-)
Well, what came closest to making me happy today was a little chat with my girlfriend (long-distance relationship). But I think I'd only be really happy if I was closer to her.

Hang out with my mother for her birthday today.

She was surprised when I paid for the restaurant bill. She didn't expect that but I want to do it for her since it's her special day. :)
I have lost a good amount of weight recently. I was walking tonight and I felt lighter than air. It's such a good feeling.
The fact I'm alive and in a good position in life. I have a roof over my head, place to sleep, food to eat, internet, clothes to wear, and a job. I not only feel happy but incredibly lucky :)

What is there not to be happy about, really? ;)
What made me happy yesterday (and will probably carry on for a while) was spending the day with a long time friend who lives up in Queensland.

Showed her around the wonderful fringe culture of Melbourne by strolling around Brunswick Street, checked out the Tutankhamun exhibit, had good food and a few drinks. Despite knowing her for around 12 years, we've only spent little face to face time. So I'll be on a natural high for some time. _b
Well I found out for certain that my ebayed 250gb xbox 360 hard drive was a cheap knockoff that missed the contents of the emulation partition so I couldn't play original xbox games.

I know, sounds like a weird thing to make me happy but I found a nice & simple method to fix it, some people had uploaded an image of the partition in question and it was a simple matter of hooking the drive up to the computer, unpacking the image to the right spot and bang, proper hard drive again. Played several missions of Robotech Battlecry again and my console hasn't been banned from live for modding (nor should it since I made it MORE like the real drives rather than less).

All in all, easy and effective.
Waking up next to my GF who is making me some breakfast right now.

Just enjoying the sunshine outside my window and am going to be enjoying it outside as me and my GF are going to take a walk around the Vistula River soon to see some of the sights around there and just enjoy the day.

I have a job, a roof over my head, my body's intact and I am not bed ridden or in a wheel chair, especially the wheel chair part because the building I live in is NOT wheel chair friendly, seriously!

Nestea Peach makes me a very, very happy man every time I drink it. It's like legal crack for me.
