Lone3wolf: Having my 7year old P4(Single-Core) MoBo schism last night, and kill my AGP GPU, DVD-RW AND leave the 160GB boot drive, 250GB games drive (PATA/IDE) and kill the 500GB SATA drive with all my TV shows stored on it.

Now I get to spend ~ £450 on Payday (2 weeks) and build an i3-based system. (Or the start of one, and finish it over the next couple months).
I'm sorry that your TV show drive died, but the rest feels like the universe wanted to give you a big hint that it's upgrade time.

And why £450? If you're short on money and your old PC was good enough for your needs, a sub-£200 PC should be good enough for you (something like , [url=http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00DWTJW6O]this, or even [url=http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00KFFW2J2]this) and significantly better than the old one. I checked Amazon.co.uk and there are quite a few. Another £60 or so can get you a 2TB hard drive (internal or external) for all your media needs and around £10 for the DVD drive if it doesn't have one already.

timppu: So, rent it to someone in its current poor condition, and tell them that I will renovate it after they move in?
Slum lord FTW!

Just kidding. No idea what you should do. We had considered doing some reno-work on this house before selling it and building out in the country, but I could never wrap my head around spending $30k to raise the price $20-25k. I guess to hope that it sells faster, trading money for time, but that's no guarantee. Another downside to renovation prior to a sale is that it can raise the price of the property to the point that you miss out on a buyer looking for a cheaper place. But if you don't do it, you risk missing out on the buyer who wants an apartment that is already up-to-snuff.

And tastes can vary so widely that you risk spending the money to come up with a kitchen / bath / paint colors that turn off some prospective buyers.

Part of my decision process would be to see what the neighbors have done, and the prices of recent sales. The prices of other sales in the building can affect your own pricing, and if other places have recently sold cheaply because they also needed renovation then that might drag down your renovated price. Ditto with rental price with renovation versus pre-renovation.

Good luck with it!

Yeah that's the thing. I don't think renovation work ever increases the value even near as much as you spend, but depending which kind of apartment or house it is, it may be the factor that tips someone over to buy it. Many people want to buy easy solutions where they don't have to make any renovation, but just move in.

Then again this is a small and relatively cheap (=old) apartment which are selling and renting like hotcakes now here, so it would probably go in a heartbeat without renovation to some investor who wants to renovate it and rent it out. But as said, I'd like to investigate first whether there is any water damage anywhere that the buyer might come complaining to me afterwards.

I was thinking about some very lightweight renovation work anyway, just enough to make the kitchenette and the bathroom passable, basically fixing them to the original condition. I have no idea what it would cost, but I'm hoping for less than 5000 € total. Maybe I'll ask some renovator to come look at it and give me some idea.

We just doubled the area the miniature donkeys have to run around and graze in. The happier they are the less chance they run away to move in with one of you! :O

No offense. :P

benderz: The rain !

GreenDigitalWolf: Rain is awesome! Check out this. There was another website that had a great variety of sounds but unfortunately I don't remember it.
Nice, thanks for the link :-)

They'll probably swim to Canada eventually.

How long can anyone live with a Space Invader?

Twisted thing is, with the new area they can see the lake which means technically they can see Canada though its a good 60/70 miles unless you stop at Isle Royal to rest but they are kind of assholes about animals not native to the Isle setting foot on the Isle.

I was just out taking photos of vegetables and said turkey crept up behind me, so here's a pic. (I'm standing in the garden, and the turkey is on the immediately adjacent driveway, where he usually stands near the garden gate.)

Also, my family reports that the entire turkey family showed up to stand guard this morning. It's that time of year.

One of my dogs had bladder stones removed, and seems to be doing well.

Cyberevil: Nice, I bookmarked that. I should play it when I sleep... as long as the loop isn't too short. which is usually the issue with these type of things. My mind hears the loop and instead of being relaxing they become annoying
I have an internet radio that has some proprietary sound stations for it that are things like rainstorms, rain, the sound of waves, rickety trains etc. I have the rain on at night.
Did you know that smell of wet ground after rain has a name? Petrichor.

What made me happy today is that I won a couple of games, including Arx Fatalis!
I'm spreading my happiness around a bit as well. :)

Hmm I thought thunderstorm sounds weren't all that popular. See? you can even learn things here.

It reminds me of my childhood in Malaysia and the monsoon season. We'd go to sleep with the sound of torrential rain and lightning and thunder roiling in the sky. Thunderstorms always end me to sleep.:)

Thanks for the pictures, I thought about asking for ones about the turkeys... :)
I wonder what they're guarding? Perhaps they'll wait for you to be fattened up with vegetables, then roll you out of your own house and move in! Aaah!

I was ecstatic when I scratched my ass and found Gray Matter, but alas, I put it in The Hermit Cave which had restrictions against such behavior.

So I scratched my ass again, and found more "Gray Matter," so I will quit while I'm ahead and place it here.

One never wants to scratch too long in the nether areas.

Gray Matter:

Have fun, and be happy twice today!
