Starkrun: that's one american thing I never understood... why do most like scalding hot coffee/tea?
To mask that it tastes like water?

How to make American coffee (as told by an American):
"A stale coffee bean is fired with near sonic speed past a gallon of lukewarm water." or
"A stale coffee bean on a thread casts it's shadow on a gallon of lukewarm water".

He also had to say a lot about American beer, but except for the "close to water" thing I can't remember it.

justanoldgamer: I'm afraid to answer the phone and open my mail again after being ok for a month or two and starting to think my meds dosage was finally right and I was seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Oh right this is not that thread.

Good writing made me happy today. I'm running out of stuff to watch because of my anxiety issues making me spend most of my time at home so I figured I'd give "Orange is the new black" a chance while fully intending to hate it. I just watched the first episode and it was fantastic.

I feel almost great enough to return a phone call and open my mail.... Na, that would be crazy.
Interesting. I spend most of my time at home (there are weekends I never leave the house once; I go almost nowhere except work unless I absolutely have to); I don't like phone calls; and I hate opening my mail. But I don't have anxiety. (Ok, I guess I should say I'm schizoid; funny how different issues can often result in the same results).

Well, if someone can't find an American beer to suit their palate these days, then... I don't know what to tell them. There is sooooo much variety and sooooo many good domestic beers available. It's not like it was even just ten years ago. Which is awesome if you like beer.

Which I do! woohoo!
How is American beer like sex in a canoe?

It's fucking close to water. :D
The days are finally getting shorter + the weather is ass. In other words: I can work late AND actually fall asleep. Awesome!
Visiting my grandmother who turned 93 last sunday.
I am a Dwarf and I'm digging a hole...

I missed the train home an had to wait an extra hour to get the next but then as I was looking for a place sit down and have a drink I found a new place called Pancakes in the Blue Mountains and that is what made me happy today, well that and the fact that I'm making a tiramisu cake :) ( although I'm not looking forward to sifting pure icing sugar)

Well I met this particular American in the mid 90's. Good for you the situation has changed :-)
I don't have to go in to work today and can vegetate. Plus I got a ticket to watch the latest Transformers in 3D tomorrow. Hoping what my friend told me about the IMAX experience is really true, I had sworn off 3D since the last time had me juggling those 3D glasses with my own.

Sachys: "flying bint"
I haven't found anything on the net about that.

My brother getting his PhD. Adding "Dr." to his ridiculous Steam nickname was his way of telling me.

Haha - yeah, 20 years ago. Ugh. Slim pickin's. Today? Vastly different, plus our local stores have a nice variety of import brew in stock.

Of course it's all relative: our palates - having been raised on some really bland stuff - may find the surge in domestic beers as a bit of a renaissance, whereas one brought up on good beer from the get-go may still find US beer lacking. Understandable.

Whatever the case, there's never been a better time for the beer drinkers over here.
