After over two years of nothing but shitty experiences with the healthcare system, unaffordable medications, and bad doctors, I finally went to a community clinic and had an amazing appointment with an amazing NP. She spent 45 minutes talking to me (about ten times longer than any doctor I've seen in several years,) and actually went out of her way to make sure I could get a lot of medicine as cheaply as possible. She actually cared about me and gave me a lot of suggestions, including some alternative stuff that doctors are not willing to suggest.
Basically, I accomplished more today than I have in the last twenty-seven months combined.
She even told me to e-mail her anytime I need to. That is a huge deal for me.
The secret to good healthcare in this country - avoid private and family practices, go to the tiny and smelly community clinics.
