Woohoo, I received my new work laptop! And the first thing I want to try out is:

- Can it run GOG games ok (ie. backwards compatibility; it has only Intel HD graphics, no idea how compatible that is with old PC games made back when Intel graphics didn't even exist).

- How much juice does it have for semi-new games, like Far Cry 2 and The Wticher? I originally would have thought "No chance!", but then I was suprised how well e.g. those two games ran in another laptop (which had lower end Geforce chipset).

It is currently installing Win7 on it over the network, still have to wait an hour or so for that to finish.

It is some lower end HP Probook 6xxx, I don't recall the exact model now. But I'm pretty sure it has more power than my current Lenovo ThinkPad T400 I got back in 2008 or so. EDIT: I think it is HP ProBook 6470b, not sure if there are different flavors of that exact model (like with different graphics chipsets, CPUs etc.; at least that was the case with T400, they are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you actually get...).

EDIT2: No backlit keyboard, or a separate keyboard light (like in T400)? Well fsck me... Damn cheapskates. I quite often use the laptop in dimly lit places, so I may have to buy one of those USB lamp accessories then in order to see the damn keyboard.

I've never met or known a bad flip :) And holy hell when I have to talk to a female flip customer service officer for Optus... drool at their accent and giggling :D
UW Badgers looked really solid in last night's basketball game. Very relaxed gameplay, like they had it under control the whole time. Bodes well for their championship run.

Don't normally give a crap about basketball but like millions of other band-wagon jumpers, I kinda-sorta followed them once the tourney started.

Still can't wrap my head around the last few minutes of any game, where it takes 20 minutes from penalty after penalty where I can't see that anyone did anything wrong. Fortunately in last night's game, Baylor was behind far enough that they said 'screw it' and the penalty-fest didn't occur.

In other news, a study from Mexico shows that agave plant sugars can help reduce the chance of contracting type 2 diabetes. Of course, self-control can, too, but that's not the point. Given that the agave is the source of my favorite nectar of the gods, tequila, I'm grinning stupidly at the possibility of this same thing transferring over to tequila.

"Why are you drinking so many margaritas?" Preventing diabetes. Will you be a dear and top off my glass?
Ate brain again, after so many years.
Got another "Dragon" issue from 1988 in the mail today. Oh, and the new "Playboy" arrived as well. :-)

LOL. Ok, here's the secret: I harness technology to trek through the Amazon where there are many doorways to the past. I simply step through one, say "I want that," and then I come back to the present and wait for it! :-)

Whoa! Is it by chance this technology you are harnessing?

That's it!!! I guess the cat is out of the bag.
Badgers are going to the Final Four after a narrow victory over Arizona. Woot and stuff. One hell of a game, that both teams deserved to win. Happy just to have seen such a good game, and it's icing on the cake that "my team" won.
I love it when a plan comes together. I mean when a code works as intended. ^^
