My computer that I built in Feb 2013 has been overheating a lot for a number of months if all 8 cores get busy doing something so I've been careful to not run things that really abuse the system in the short term until I can clean the crapload of dust out of it. A few weeks ago I bought an air compressor to clean all the PCs with but still need to buy the hose and other parts before I can use it. I also plan to buy a new high end Lian-Li aluminum case for it with ample cooling fans. These two things should be more than adequate to solve the problems that matter to me personally without any additional expenses so I did not have any intention to buy better heatsink/fan/liquid cooler or similar.

Yesterday, a friend of a friend upgraded their own CPU cooling system with a new liquid cooler and didn't need their fancy high end $115 heatsink/fan anymore so they offered it to me. So I just got a kick ass cooling solution that's about a year old but in mint condition for free which in combination with cleaning out the PC with an air compressor and a new case should completely resolve all overheating problems and then some, and I should be able to max out the CPU and even use Turbocore for some games now or even potentially use overclocking although I'm not particularly big on that.

Here's the new freebie cooler, it's a beast: http://www.ncix.com/detail/noctua-nh-u14s-lga115x-2011-am2-am3-20-82802.htm
My superiority. Or is it cowardice, perhaps...? I have two of the five people who are responsible for my life's almost undoing in hand's reach, yet i resist the urge to repay them according to their deeds. I prefer to wait until they try something funny and physical against me once more; this time i am going to be both armed and aware... No one gets rid of Bradley without a fight. Too bad i will be convicted either way, since i am being set up from years ago for all manners of stupid sh*t, even with constructed evidence for things i never did.

Plus all this time remaining to me until this summer, i can polish my knowledge and arms dearests. I am happy for having the chance to live life in a hurry, cheat and cut my way into shortcuts unimaginable, to learn a great deal of secret things not everyone has the chance to come across... And of having being wronged this much, throughout my (un)life. Even if i manage to take one of those bastards down with me within an inescapable situation, i will still be blameless, since they destroyed my life, drove me into a corner and even harmed me both through psychological warfare daily and with physical assault once...

Clock's ticking. I can feel adrenaline and excitement. Ha ha... I am almost excited. Almost. As almost destroyed. Almost. Almost, such a small word, making such a big difference... Ha ha...

Good procrastination there. I'd suggest replacing the CPU cooler now that you have a new one and not waiting for a comprehensive cleaning.

I'm an expert of procrastination. I bought an ARCTIC Alpine 64 Plus cooler a year and a half ago for my HTPC and haven't installed it yet. But because I now use the CPU more and during sleep hour (for video conversion) the noise is getting annoying and I figure it's about time I installed it.

Too much work to rip this all apart several times, I'd rather do it once. I need to find my heat sink grease before I can put the new cooler on anyway, and other parts of the system are overheating from the dust too, not just the CPU. Changing the heat sink without removing the dust would make it likely to get dust mixed in with the heat sink grease which would trash the CPU.

It's more having higher priorities rather than procrastination, but also a domino effect of things that need to be done that can't be done immediately.

I'll probably be ordering the compressor accessories this week, but am also trying to borrow a hose/duster attachment from a friend in the mean time. Compounding that problem though is the fact it is in the heart of Canadian winter right now, and the amount of dust that comes out of a computer when you blow it with an air compressor is about 100 times more than what you expect to see. That's something you want to happen outside the house with facemasks on, rather than in the living room, but the weather outside is currently preventative. Once I have the hose+duster attachment I'm going to see if I can transport the computer/compressor to someone's garage or similar to do the dirty work, then when I get it back home try to install the new cooler unit.

The new computer case will happen at a later date though as I have to research what's out there and wade through all of the cases out there that "look nice" and give gamers a hard-on but are full of cheap ass plastic crap or metal that rusts or other shoddy-but-hidden engineering and try to find something of actual high quality that meets my rather stubborn demands. Lian-Li is one of the few companies out there that makes chassis that I even want to look at, but I want to explore around and see if there is any other non-junk out there before settling.

The new case will just be the icing on the cake though, the dusting+cooler will resolve any pressing issues I have ATM, and I'll be keeping the cases cleaned out regularly with the compressor after that for sure. :)

Web browsing and gaming come first, I know. ;)

Don't you have compressed air cans in Canada? They don't cost a lot and they do a decent job.

I can understand the weather issue, so I can understand waiting now.
I didn't get my welfare sanctioned, the ice dragon I normally see wasn't there YIPPIEEEE
Playing an hour of bowling and snooker with a good friend. Lost everything but it was still nice to get out of the bleak everyday existence.
I am happy today! I discovered new things in place of old ones who got banned...

Well happy, and then sad. A very good friend of mine, who I've known for over 20 years, just now flew to Australia permanently, i.e. he emigrated. I couldn't decide what to give to him as a farewell gift up and until the very last minute, last night as it were. I got up early and started to sketch at a mad pace to create him something that might look good somewhere in his new office. He's a total Star Wars nerd like me so I made him a small yoda with his quote underneath "Do. Or do not. There is no try."
It was a total rushjob, and I very nearly missed him at the airport because of it, but it came out pretty ok:

May the force be with you Cobus

If that's your rushjob Yoda, then I suspect we'd be blown away by a sketch where you took your time. That's... pretty great.

As to your friend, maybe it's an excuse to go visit Australia someday. Hopefully you'll keep in close contact.

Thank you :) Yes I'd love to go and visit as soon as I can, though preferably with a couple cans worth of funnel web repellent :P
Finally... I mean, FINALLY! I got past Karkinos in Deathinitive Edition! All this time game was bugged... Collision detection was glitched. Not anymore... Yay!
I got a call from my boss on my day off, totally thought it was gonna be him asking me to come in. Nope, it was to let me know I was going to be the new head of my department effective immediately. Woo-hoo!
