Tarm: Hush! I hear a thousand politician souls scream in pain.

sunshinecorp: Can't help it. I feel the need to simplify walls of text.
Me too. I'm terrible at writing papers.

I've never finished a paper in my entire life! Isn't that an assistant's job?!
avatar
Tarm: You do realize that as soon as the question about someone having anything to do with politics is raised the first thing most people think is "Liar!" and "Publicity!"?
I'll take your word for this but the thought still nags at me.
But then I have agreed with your secret implication heh? (this is where I would love a naughty grinning smiley) :)

I admitted I am lying even to myself, and am trying to project a better self than what I really see in myself.

Chew on that ;) and then tell me if I am suited for politics or not.

One should lead by example, or not at all. Despite being imperfect.

Then how did you get your degree! :P

Unfortunately diaper changes and being high do not mesh well...

So you're not being true to yourself? That's a perfect politician. ;)

WHAT?! I need to GET A DEGREE?! Noone informed me of this!
Quick! BURN THE LAB! DESTROY THE RESEARCH!

Guys, I think Brasas is about to kick us out. And at this point, who'd blame the dude?

sunshinecorp: To put it simply in a known term: Correlation does not imply causation.
But it's my hypothetical. :)

I can precise it further until you are satisfied that my inaction caused Jane harm. Rather than having accidentally happened at the same time.

I mean, I thought the causation was obvious. Maybe expand why you don't see causation in my proposed scenario?

If you want to define causation to imply action, sure I guess. But then please tell me what word I need to use that does not imply moral agency, but does imply determinist causation.
avatar
Tarm: So you're not being true to yourself? That's a perfect politician. ;)
So you were serious from the start about me and politics, and my original answer stands. :D

Aren't paradoxes fun?

Hmmm... that's perhaps too revealing... [kicks himself out of the thread for a while]

You make my brain hurt. I think I'll just go back to easier things, like investigating extreme violations of local realism in quantum hypergraph states.

Now that's a loaded topic.
