I hate time limits, as Geralt as hates portals, even when the limits are big.
That's why my favourite part of Fallout are Tactics, 3, and New Vegas,
and I still can't convince me to playing in 1 and 2 parts despite attempts.
Imo the Time Limit should be an option dependent on selected game difficulty.
Dunno, maybe I'm too old for this already.

Are we talking about the game or actual fallout because I can come up with a good sized list for both.
F:NV (don't remember if earlier games had it, but I'm guessing they did) - Inventory weight restrictions. I'm a packrat, I hate having to choose what to carry and what to dump.

You can use the console and cheat.
Fallout 1:
you need to steal from your companion and there is no way to stop the dog to follow you.

Fallout 2:
the main quest is the same as Fallout 1 and many bugs are still there.

Fallout 3:
- too many stupid quests where you don't even need to do anything, just follow the giant robot and it will kill everything for you.
- you will never reach a point were you regret a choice except in one dlc (the one where you are a slave). you are an hero or you are an asshole, there is no gray area.
- villains are stupid. you do as they say or you make them suicide.
- weapons will always suck... but at the same time you are overpowered.

Fallout New Vegas and 4, I still need to play them.

I think the best is fallout 1 right now, but fallout 2 is also awesome. Fallout 3 is just ok, it is not really bad, but it's not even close to the old fallouts.
Fallout 3:
I was disappointed when found out that I can't target groin and eyes in VATS.
In Fallout 1 and 2 it was possible. :/
It's not Failout.

Remember, Failout is much better than Fallout.

Right? (Or is that Left? I're confused.)

More seriously, I failed to mention the time limit in my earlier post. In Fallout 1, if you don't do a certain quest fast enough, it's an automatic game over, to my understanding. (I note that speedrunners actually skip this quest entirely, opting to instead beat the game before time runs out.)
Fallout 1: too short
Fallout 2: a little too silly in some parts
Fallout 3: GFWL
Fallout: New Vegas: Johnny Guitar
Fallout 4: I don't know yet.
Fallout Tactics: I don't know yet.
Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel: It sucked and everybody hates it. You shouldn't make bad games that everybody hates.
Fallout 1, and mainly also 2 I think. I haven't played the later Fallouts yet, but I intend to.

Companion management was awful. There was a way to get them to give them certain armor and/or weapons and make them use them... but it was VERY complicated, almost feeling like the game didn't really mean you to be able to tell them what equipment to use.

Also, I very much disliked how the companions had a mind of their own, and you couldn't really control what they were doing. I try to set up an ambush outside an enemy building so that we would shoot all the enemies trying to come rushing out through that one door... but no, my idiot companions instantly rush into the building to fight with the enemies. Shit.

I tried to find workarounds to that, like luring my companions first very far from the place of action so that when the action would start, it would take some time before they could reach it.

Fallout 3:
No turn based combat.
3D.
Designed to be 1st person with the player character just a puppet hanging off the crosshair and getting in the way when in 3rd person view.
A console game rather than a PC game.
Uninteresting perks.
Too many subway stations.
Fallout: All of Them.

-Too much water
-Not enough Pipe Dream style hacking minigames
-Not enough deserts
-Too many guns
-Not enough swords
-Not enough motion controls
-Can only be racist towards ghouls and mutants and not the minorities to whom I would actually want to be racist.
-Eating and sleeping are entirely optional
-Games are not 2D platformers
-Not enough DLC
-Not enough microtransactions
-Not enough loot boxes
-Not enough customisable mounts
-No Cooking Mama style brahmin milking minigame

Overall, 9.95/10 they're alright.

darktjm: Edit: On second thought, I don't really want to post in a thread whose sole purpose, by the "rules", is to bash Fallout without discussion. This is not constructive.
Not to "bash Fallout", to note what you disliked / wanted differently in Fallout, in your personal opinion. Doesn't mean that somebody should approve or disapprove how you felt in order for that point to be valid - if people mention it many times then its probably valid. You can't change already published Fallout anyway so no point in being offended I think and it has little point to discuss what was already published.
The thread gives ideas for devs of upcoming RPGs, of what could be done differently. Because discussion can lead to war about opinions and then cause people to take sides instead of concentrating on their own list, this is reason why brainstorm format.
If you need discussion format you can go ahead and make discussion thread about liked/disliked Fallout series, ping me back - I will link to it in 1st post no problem.

Hesusio: -Not enough DLC
Fallout 4's 6 DLCs aren't enough for you?
Fallout 1,2,Tactics,3,4

The developers don't understand what Linux is.

Fallout 76.
