I messed up trying to create a cool screenshot of this game. I think I'll post it anyway.
Hint:
Don't mess up F2 and F3. One of them undocks you from the space station. The other sends you into the space station at warp 9. If only I could remember which was which...

No.
In Eve Online you click and wait for your ship to carry out the order.
In this you are in the cockpit actively controlling every movement and action of your ship. (There is an autopilot and external camera view too, it's just not forced on you.) You can have and will have actual dogfights in this game.
It does have multiplayer support though...

No.
No. Fan's of this game will typically claim its better :).
In this game your spaceship actually handles like a spaceship in space with proper inertial effects. In X3 your ship handles like a plane inside a planet's atmosphere.
X3 likely wins on story though.
In this game you actually fly down to planets through their atmosphere and land at a city.
X3 has bigger pilotable ships.
This game lets you customize external components of your ship, actually changing its look (not to mention performance and handling).
X3 has a more complicated economy.
This game has multiplayer.

I don't know (the only space muitplayer I've played besides Eve is Black Prophecy and that's not it), but I must say that screenshot is awesome and probably beats your original idea of whatever you wanted to take the screenshot of. :P

That's far from the best shot of the game however. Here are two I captured from just the opening video. The video is of actual game play but the compression reduces the quality of it - actual game play is even better than this.
EDIT: The game is from an Indie developer and costs $30. It has a demo too. I'd be happy to PM anyone who desperately wants to buy it a link as long as you promise not to share what the name of the game is until someone actually guesses it.
I feel like I'm withholding money from a deserving indie developer...

Evochron Mercenary? And if so, does it still have the tracking lasers that the old Star Wraith games had? I always preferred to line up my shots manually That made me loose interest in the series pretty quickly. Of course, they were all mission based at the time, so Evochron Mercenary looks more interesting than the Star Wraith games were.
