Laser Squad is one of my favourite games of all time - and you are very warm.

Matewis: Err Rebelstar II
Hahaha I feel I should give this to you already, but Rebelstar was the second game, Rebelstar II was the third ... ^_^

You wouldn't believe the coincidence! Just an hour or two ago I watched an XCom retrospective video that mentioned something preceding Laser Squad by the same designer that up to then I had no idea existed. I thought Laser Squad was pretty much the start of this turn based squad tactics genre.

I had to quickly look up the Julian Gollop and what else he worked on when Cadaber747 mentioned Laser Squad :)

That is quite the coincident! Well done - swooped in JUST before Cadaver. ^_^

Yup, Rebelstar Raiders, developed by Julian Gollop in 1984 was pretty much the first of it's kind. He went on to create Rebelstar, Rebelstar II, Laser Squad, the original UFO: Enemy Unknown (aka X-COM: UFO Defense), X-COM Apocalypse - a few spin-offs here and there (like Laser Squad Nemesis), and is now working on Phoenix Point.

Your turn!

Cool :) I'm also really looking forward to the guys over at openapoc to finish their work so that I finally check out and finish the third entry in the series as well.

Not sure how well known the next game is:

Is it a scroller shooter or a strategy game? Or something entirely different? Looks like Amiga game port to DOS made by Bitmap Brothers.

It's not a scroller shooter no, but I thought to myself it quite looked like on when I posted it. It is however pretty zoomed in part of a screenshot.

Funny you should say that - my brain went to the original Xenon game when I first saw the shot! ^_^

My hunch is that this that this is a PC/DOS game, too ... looks too high-res (albeit zoomed in) to be Amiga ... o_O

Thanks for the heads-up on OpenApoc - I wasn't aware of that!

Regarding the new screenshot, is it an RTS - anything like Dune II or Command & Conquer ..? o_O
