I remember this game!!! I still play it from time to time. God of Thunder.
edit: Proof?
edit 2: Here's the new one, the only space game that I can remember playing (other than Tie Fighter), although I did try X3 before I gave up on learning the controls.

Because of the arrows pointing to the mouse I'm going to say Freelancer. After looking at the picture again and seeing the HUD, yeah, that's totally Freelancer. so X3 is a bitch to control? I also have that one, but haven't tried it yet.
I think I won, and I am going to go to bed soon, so I am going to post some pictures, if I'm wrong, just disregard me as if I were a crazy hobo.

You were right, it is Freelancer. And yeah, X3 is not nearly as easy to control as Freelancer. It's got a fairly steep learning curve as I remember.

Heh, as someone somewhere around forums said:
X3 is like having a second job :D
It's hard and confusing at the beginning, fun and rewarding at the end. But remember: 'The end' comes after you play and explore a bit. And 'a bit' in this game means... Well, about a month worth of gameplay :D
Yeah but nothing much beats the feeling of having an enormous station empire serviced by a massive fleet of pirate transports that had the poor sense to shoot at you and then bailed as soon as they lost their shields allowing you to nick their ship for your own. Oh and also having each of those pirate freighters escorted by a fighter squadron made of pirate fighters who did similar things.
X2 was the best for business though, you could completely revitalise Presidents End after the incident there and turn it into a gigantic trading hub monopolised entirely by you. Placed a cone of a dozen or so laser towers at each jumpgate to defend the entrances and stationed a pair of cruisers in the middle of the sector to deal with anything that survived long enough to get to them. Safest sector in all of the game...

Hahaha. I remember doing stuff like that. Eh good times. My favorite thing was invading xenon sectors with my huge armada. payback from the time when i had to go through their territory and i was completely outgunned (story mission).
and yeah. pirate ships were the core of my fleet
you can't do stuff like that in X3?

lukaszthegreat: you can't do stuff like that in X3?

Oh yes, just that you didn't have a centrally located & scoured clean sector thats ideal for making your own business empire. You can do way more in x3 actually

You can always declare a war on certain species and wipe them from the face of universe. then rebuild their sectors completely under your control :)
Hints please. :)

Do not doubt my skills as I was just waiting for April to end and for beautiful May to start when the sinister download cap implemented by my vicious ISP is lifted.
Let's play again!
