GOG often has one twist or another to its sales. We just finished up a bundle sale, about a month ago we had an insomnia sale, and in the past there have even been chances to buy mystery games. Of course, opinions on all of these formats vary, and one could argue that the current gimmicks might do more harm than good. Discounts usually don't change regardless of the sale format, so the need to buy a whole bundle to get X% off can feel arbitrary, as can the limited stock of an insomnia sale. But hey, there has to be something to keep things exciting, right? Normal sales are too drab for GOG.com, we need spectacle! So here's my question for all of you: What ideas do you have for GOG sale gimmicks? It could be an entire format, like the insomnia or bundle promos, or just a little something extra, like the mystery games. I'd love to hear all of your ideas!

Here's my idea for a new format, though I don't know what it would be called: Similar to the insomnia promo, each game would show up with a certain amount of copies needing to sell before the next game appears. However, there would be no limit to the stock, and games would stay up for the entirety of the sale once unlocked by the community. I feel that this would retain the best aspect of the insomnia format while getting rid of its downsides. There could also be a separate set of special deals (kind of like how Dying Light was special at the end of Bundleopolis) with games that would be unlocked by the total amount of games sold. Since the community would be "growing" the sale by purchasing games, maybe it could be the "Community Garden Promo" or something like that.
Your idea sounds good. Definitely sounds like a good alternative to Insomnia.

Honestly though, what I really want is not having bundles that require you to buy all the games to get the maximum discount.

It's fascinating, how Steam has really pulled back on gimmicky sales, but Gog is now suddenly all about the gimmicks.

Games are 75% (or more) off and the deal lasts for a week.
The anti-sale sale. Pay full price and select how much money goes to charity.
russian roulette: you'll see 6 possible games in the checkout (probably 5 unpopular/cheap and one expensive) after completing the checkout you'll see which one of the six games you did purchase.
I'd like to see a different take on the "buy X games get 1 free", one that is more charity oriented. For instances you could buy 5 games and X% of the value spent goes to Charity A and it could scale (5, 10, 20 games).
I rather liked the one where you had a certain up-front discount on the game, but also had a chance to get it free on checkout. I preferred that to mystery games.

That's insomnia sale. (the ones before the recent one)

I didn't think they were all insomnias. Anyway, I'd like that format, sans the insomnia part. :)
More sales, less gimmicks.
I loved the insomnia sale, but one thing I would change about it is to put a time limit on each individual game. The were times when one game stopped the fun for as much as 30 minutes in the end.

Oh, and have way more games - the surprise element was lost during the end of the sale.
Indiepocalypse! Release 25 new-to-GOG, but not necessarily new, indie games and let customers choose which of them they want to create their own bundles.
Discounts starting at 75% :) But seriously I would love another Battle of the games type sale. Its very interesting when you can vote for a game that will go on a sale. And maybe it could be combinated with a Pinata type sale for those who love that.

Please let it be some sale that doesn't consists of bundles cause that brings prices for the games up if you wan't to buy only one title.

Discounting DLCs alongside the games they belong to.
