It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Gog is still selling games, hek I just bought one last week but the home page has a broken drop down menu that covers the left half of the page and is very frustrating. The GOG, "Downloader" doesn't work any more. I have the galaxy software on my computer but it doesn't load, (broken) too. When I click the download link I can process the download through a browser but it just shoots a link to "Galaxy" that can" work without "Galaxy". So what is the deal these days. The forums seem to still be posting but the site doesn't have a maintenance crew? I show lots of games, I wanted to try "Solas" but can't figure out how to actually get it. I bought it , but it just sits on the GOG site. GOG used to be so easy before "Galaxy".

Don't worry, Fables is working on it.
The home page is working fine for me, ugly as heck, but working fine.
I can also download via the browser, so that also works.
I don't know about the downloader and I despise Galaxy so you might be right about those.
I never used Galaxy, and I never had problems with downloading games, or patching games, etc.
And despite my poor internet connection, I download games pretty fast thanks to Firefox's "down-them-all".
In my opinion, Galaxy is useless, for I don't care about the features it provide. I just want to play games, not get useless achievements or seeing other's playtime, or I don't know what "social" things this client offers. But it's my opinion, I can understant some people like it...
Eh... The downloader still works fine. Galaxy should too, but not if you're on XP or Vista.

Not sure what you mean about browser downloads sending you to galaxy.

Judging by what you wrote, it seems that you're only accessing GOG through the Galaxy client. It's still in Beta so you should expect some problems (even though it works fine with me).
You should preferably access GOG through the regular browser.

No actually I have been downloading games through the Chrome Browser, but I don't like it much. The GOG downloader just comes up blank, kinda usless, it doesn't stream with the browser or give game selections. "Galaxy" wants to hold all your games in "Special Locations", I've worked with computers for 40 years and I hate hunting for files. After all that was supposed to be the computers base purpose, (sorting). So, to actually get the game yopu bought in a usable form it has to be accessable to windows explorer. Hunting again....hate it.

Tried another browser? Something more regular like Firefox or IE? I use PaleMoon (Firefox based browser) and everything is fine.

You can change the install path in Galaxy. Or just use it to DL the installers and install from those by hand (need to change the path there too).

See attachments. EDIT: This layout applies only in the browser version of your library; in the Galaxy client, the layout is somewhat different.
Not sure what your issue is with the front page, but it sounds more like something to do with your browser or your screen resolution, as the "Games" dropdown (I assume that's what you're referring to?) shouldn't cover anywhere near the entire left half of the screen. EDIT:...Unless you're talking about Galaxy, which I've never used, so I don't know about that. But you said it wouldn't load for you, so I assume you mean in the browser.
Galaxy isn't "broken", but it's still in beta, and is a long, long way from being headache-free or finished. Also, official support of its use on Windows XP and Vista was discontinued a while back. (If you're trying to use the site/Galaxy in an old OS/browser -- or on an old computer -- that might help explain both Galaxy not working for you, and your problems viewing the site.)

I appreciate the OP's frustration, but I think he's assuming that the problems he's experiencing are systemic and not just related to his own situation. I've been running Galaxy for about 8 months without any problem (Windows 10). Sometimes the download will be a little slow, but normally everything runs smoothly, which is great for a non-techie like me.

I don't understand - maybe your browser is *very* different / non-standard, but I've used both IE and Firefox and the game files are super easy to get.

I click on any game in my Library and right there is a list of files I download. I click them and a box pops up that let's me save them exactly where I want them.

If you're using OSX I can't help, but Linux is pretty much exactly the same.

Maybe I'm confusing your issue?

Excuse me and I don't mean to sound obtuse but people who are running Vista for an OS bought a walmart HP or Dell around 2002 and never slotted an extra 6 gigs of ram. People running XP are pluged into a lampost on a street corner and can't figure out the walk button. As far as I can see Doze8 was a disaster and 10 is just a monicer for Microsoft to be like Apple with OSX. After Win 2000 the only OS worth a Crap from the Gates money machine was win 7 and I'll even take it with half the security of an Apple OS 128bit. It's got nothing to do with OS's or browsers or even name brands, it has to do with poor organizational skills. Everyone seems to think that working software, because it has a few years on it should ALWAYS be changed or up dated. I beg to differ, "If it aint broke, don't fix it". Learned that in the military. I just get tired of constantly learning new software and this is supposed to be fun.

with all the shitty developments on here, since the first good news back in to 2014, gog slowly turned into a degenerated steamy abomination, thats what happened.

Err, apart from your speech about W7, did the attachments from hunch's message help you out? Because you sound like you're more interested in ranting rather than in getting answers :/
