I hope Fairfox is dong well and alright. I believe it wasn't that long since her last post here. Perhaps good things in life have been keeping her occupied, and that would actually be a nice outcome.

As someone who did occasionally tease her style in a gentle-natured fashion, I don't get the outright disdain. But so be it.

Thanks for the link. I always did wonder why Fairfox typed she way she did. I always thought it was a forum roleplay sort of thing.

Even then, I still can't agree with her decision to keep typing the way she did. She essentially said she's going to keep typing like that because it helps her feel a connection to her sister who drifted apart from her. But what she didn't understand (or even care to understand) is when it comes to forum communication, it isn't just about what she wants. At the end of her post, she acknowledges she annoyed several forum users but essentially brushed it off by saying she didn't respect them anyways. She also said if anyone doesn't like how she posts, sucks for you. In other words, she doesn't care. That kind of thinking just doesn't jive when it comes to creating a friendly community.

I'm not cold hearted to her situation. 8 years ago, my best friend commited suicide and that's not an experience I would wish on anyone. However, there is no reason for me to push that on other GOGers. If she really wants to feel that connection with her sister, I'm sure she could find a better way of doing so.

I think people should just let it rest. Mods are doing their job and most importantly refrain from speculation.

It was bound to happen eventually. Personally, I just ignored Fairfox's posts and went on with my day but there's always going to be at least 1 person who's going to react.

While Fairfox was well within her right to type the way she did, she was not immune to the consequences. I have every right to drive a Ferrari into a high crime neighbourhood with a wad of cash in the backseat, leave it in a capark somewhere overnight with the door wide open and the engine running. I also have the right to say my car shouldn't get stolen because this is what I want to do and stealing is illegal anyway. But anyone with half a brain knows what's going to happen and it's my own fault.

Fairfox's situation is no different. Just because you have the right to do something doesn't mean it's a good idea

I just didn't expect THAT MUCH of a response. Unless it was like one dude downvoting everything she had ever posted, then subsequently trigger the anti spambot or something. If that's the case, that's just petty.

She probably just wants to be left alone to post freely and not be the topic of these conversations. I've seen these drama threads for maybe a week now.

I don't see anybody demanding correct grammar and spelling, I see people demanding that some thought be put into it so that it's at least mildly comprehensible.

There's plenty of non-native speakers here and individuals with genuine learning disorders on the site. And they, generally post things that are substantially more readable.

Seeing so many threads with the same incorrect spellings, seeing tons of posts in threads with spelling and grammar so bad that you can't tell if it's relevant to the topic at hand isn't amusing or clever. All it does is make the forum more annoying to visit and makes it substantially harder for non-native speakers as you can't paste that shit into a translator program and get a meaningful result.

I have no personal issue with novelty posts, I do have a problem with somebody posting so much while putting so little thought into it and expecting the rest of the forum to sort through it.

Keep in mind that this is coming from somebody who used to love when Bashy on KoL used to have poor grammar and constantly mention bashing fetuses. It was poor grammar, but it was much, much easier to read and usually didn't impose much on the reader.
I get kind of frustrated that some folks in here think that the people object to the posting somehow want her hurt somehow. I haven't seen anybody suggest that, what I have seen is folks wanting her to put some actual effort into it, perhaps, for novelty's sake, put some of her posts through a spell and grammar check before posting to eliminate at least the most egregious problems.

Writing things in a public place is for the reader as much as the writer, so it should be as legible as possible, even if you don't do a proper grammar check.
That's the thing, this is a busy forum and she posted a lot of topics and a lot of posts in other topics. Personally, I think that if GOG would stop dragging his feet and give us an ignore user feature that most of the complaining would end pretty quickly as people could set her to ignore and then wouldn't have to go through the effort of dealing with it.

For me personally, if she'd put even the slightest amount of effort into trying to make the posts readable, I wouldn't be anywhere near as annoyed by it. Seeing the same typo in just about every topic she created is rather ridiculous.

Yeah, you're right. In hindsight I should have said "Firefox's situation is not much different" instead of "no different" as I don't know everything about the situation. I was just focusing on making the point that poor choices have consequences.
