borisburke: Extensive studies have shown time and again that boys are attracted to boy-type toys, and girls are attracted to girl-type toys
I am unsure what girl- and boy-type toys exactly are, but it has been shown that in general, boys (even the smallest infants who are able to pay any attention to their surroundings) tend to be more interested in things, while girls in general tend to be more interested in people. Which then later in their childhood turns into boys tending to gravitate towards mechanical toys, and girls to dolls.

Here's one documentary (that many have probably already seen) that partly touches the subject:

The Nilfgaard faction, as a whole, within Gwent.

People who play really cheaply in Gwent.

Ridiculous "Win x games" tasks in the Journey in Gwent, particularly since it can take quite a few matches before you get a win sometimes.

paladin181: I just don't have big expectations from movies anymore; shows are as good quality these days with less initial time investment, longer, more satisfying story arcs, and generally better sub plots.
Even though I said I don't actively try to watch new movies anymore (mainly if something remotely interesting seems to come from TV), for me TV series are, and have always been even worse. And yes I have said about this multiple times in this forum.

Obviously TV series are lower budget so that is why Game of Thrones doesn't have spectacular battle scenes like in LOTR movies or 300 or whatever (now that I remember it, 300 was one "modern" movie that I did like and was impressed with). Also I so often get the feeling in TV series that they are making up the story as they go, just trying to prolongate the story artificially (season after season) as long as viewer ratings are still high enough. "The Walking Dead" is one good example of this, just keep making new seasons by introducing new characters if needed, and making the main characters basically do the same things in circles, over and over again, season after season. Meh.

Anyway, no problem, I just don't generally watch TV series, even less than movies. If I watched something, it would probably be something where each episode is its own entity, like House M.D. or such. After all, that is one of the things I like about movies: I can expect that the whole story is wrapped up by the time I'm finished watching the movie. Unless it is a trilogy with cliffhangers etc.

anzial: seriously? no one even mentions the largest impediment to your life, covid?
Frankly, it has been a blessing for me personally:

1. Can't travel abroad, so we have saved masses of money last and this year, without the ability to travel to some far-away countries for a month, or even to northern Finland to ski. I feel almost rich with all this extra money on my bank account! Hence, I am in the process of buying a new car, my first fully electric car (probably Renault Zoe electric, it seems to offer the best bang for buck as long as electric cars go).

2. Due to covid, I've been able to do most of my work from home (2 weeks at home, 1 week at the office, rinse and repeat), which means I've saved lots of money also on gasoline, driving to my work every day. It normally costs me something like 70€ per week for gasoline (around 300€ per month), just to get to work. Hence I am probably buying the aforementioned electric car.

Also as I a semi-hermit, it hasn't felt bad at all to me to stay home, indoors (of course I have a family there so I am not really alone...). Heck, I can keep myself entertained indoors! That's what my computers and games are for. What is this talk some people having serious mental issues due to having to stay indoors and not constantly seeing other people? Get a bigger apartment I guess, and stay in touch with your friends with Skype or something. There, problem solved.

Sucks for those of course who have died of covid, of course. Or lost their job. Or leg. Or dog. Or anything that they hold dear.

Cool of you to clarify, cheers.
GOG's 'user rating system' grinds my gears.
You know what grinds my gears when it comes to movies? That seemingly every movie these days has to be so fucking long. I love going to the cinema, but just now looking at what's playing -

Space Jam Legacy - 115 minutes. It's just a kids film about cartoons playing basketball for crying out loud. The original wasn't even 90 minutes!

The Suicide Squad - 132 minutes, Black Widow - 134 minutes... you know, Zefirelli managed to fit a really great production of Hamlet into 130 minutes. Don't get me wrong, I can have ton of fun with a well made dumb comic book action film, but if you need more time to tell The Suicide Squad than it took for Hamlet, you're probably doing something very wrong.

Even Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard - which I in fact enjoyed for the over the top silly film it was - was 116 minutes. Does no one make 90-ish minute movies anymore? Don't get me wrong, there are some super long movies I love, like Lawrence of Arabia, Gettysburg, Once Upon a Time in the West etc. but I really don't feel like sitting through something like Black Widow for over two hours. For simple, dumb action movies more than 90-100 minutes is usually way to long, and even a fun film starts getting tedious.

Same goes for TV shows, really, at least in streaming. Episodes are usually 50-60 minutes instead of the traditional 40-something, and still what would have taken Star Trek or X-Files in 90s a single episode takes a modern show five. It's all such a slog.

+1

Stretching enough content for a single episode over several, using filler. That grinds my gears.
low rated
This grinds my gears.

I guess the devs had a diversity meeting. LOL

Yes, gaming history is stuffed with male-only protagonists, but if that’s wrong, how is this right?

Do I have to play as a woman to enjoy this quest? Why? How does gender make the gameplay different? Why does gender matter? Women get lighter swords? More caring and less combat?

It’s not rocket surgery guys. Allowing the player to choose their character’s gender at the start of the game is absolutely the right thing to do, and aside from some graphical and pronoun differences, the gameplay should be essentially the same for either. Anything else is discriminatory, maybe even sexist, and it’s certainly NOT inclusive.

By trying to be PC and signalling woke, they are in fact doing the opposite. It’s a joke.

To anyone thinking of replying ‘if you don’t want to play as a woman, don’t get the DLC’, I say, you’re missing the point. Why should I have to miss out on what could be a great quest because of my gender? What if I were female, and it was called A Man’s Lot? How is that different?

Edit: I may have been hasty and misdirected my ire. This looks like a realistic 'simulation' type game. And women's lives were indeed very different from men's in 1405. My point should be taken as a general complaint about the state of the industry, and not this specific game. Apologies to the devs. I will leave the full post here as a testimony to being too hasty.

Strongly disagree with this, and imo it's an especially silly argument when applied to a game like Kingdom come: Deliverance, which aims at least at some historical accuracy. Men and women are biologically different, life has different challenges for them, and obviously this was even more the case in the early 15th century. If you'd allow a woman to play as a knight (except in some exceptional case like Joan of Arc), you're crossing the line into fantasy territory.

That's ok. Everyone's opinion is equal here.

Nope, mine is correct, and people who disagree with me are WRONG.
Hmmm i'd have to say locked down hardware; be it Consoles, handhelds, android phones, or anything else. You should have the right to modify or change what you own.

A virus that has been around for hundreds of thousands of years, but been made ever so slightly more infectious and is killing people by the dozens (but they push to have it as #1 cause of death regardless so they can push the numbers/fear up)... No, I fear the vaccine push more, along with their push to remove our rights.
If you feel uncomfortable playing as a woman, then the game isn't for you. Same values go for every game people get offended with, both SJWs and anti-SJWs. Both sides grind my gears since there's a ton of bigger fish to fry than whining and crying about identity politics.

According to this survey based in 13 countries, females make up 46% of the gaming population in 2017. So theoretically in your equal world, 46% of the games released today should have female protagonists. There are a lot of interesting stories to tell with a female protagonist that you can't as a male that you couldn't implement with a select your gender option.

Plus, as a proud pervert, I enjoy playing as a female because I have someone nice to look at during hours of gameplay. I don't enjoy watching male characters all day because I already do it at the gym with my own body or when I'm watching some other people at the gym during rest.
