Galactic Civilization 2 is one game I recently played. One of the better 4x games IMO.

I find it extremely weird that it's average rating is lower than most Civ games.

That may be because it's not one of the most famous entries of its genre.

Game series like Civilization, Final Fantasy, Baldur's Gate, Elder Scrolls (particularly Skyrim), Doom, Super Mario Bros., etc. are all rather famous examples of their genre. Even people who don't play these genres have at least heard about the games mentioned, and some are even familiar to those who don't even play games in the first place. But then you get games like Galactic Civilization 2, which are not as famous, and I have a feeling such games get lower average ratings.

(This is excluding cases of review bombing, which often happens as a result of some (real or perceived) issue with the game.)

(Also, in that context, "it's" is not the correct word. For whatever reason, in English, pronouns don't indicate possessives the way nouns do, and never have apostrophes. Furthermore, "it's" happens to be a contraction that expands to "it is"; if you were to replace "it's" in your sentence with "it is", it would not work. The word that belongs there is "its", which has no apostrophe. This is a common mistake, and one that native English speakers commonly make; don't worry too much about it (despite this lengthy note).)
Hades.

After my initial run with God Mode on (turned it off for every consequent run), I've gotten the hang of the game (being able to pair-up good boons to weapons), and I've finally cleared the main story, unlocked all weapon aspects, and I'm in the process of unlocking all of the Cthonic companions, and getting to the epilogue. I'm 56+ hours in, on a 3 run winning streak, and I'm still loving it.

though i'm gld of course for your .. sake :-p

RTX 5000 series will be my que point .... and intel chips..... because of some post on the forum i went down checking the good 'ol i7 7700k vs newer chips such as the 10600k and the 10700k... according to user benchmark the 106 is just 1 percent ahead ... and the 107 about 4 % .. that is nothing to write home off!

I'm really happy with my new pc... and I'm "testing" it with 4 titles with every graphic option set to max:
1) some action with Ryse - Son of Rome
2) some tactical with Empire Total War Definitive Edition
3) some satisfaction with Crysis (finally it CAN run on my system lol)
4) some relax with Euro Truck Simulator 2

I ordered the PC around Black Friday week. Showed-up last week. CyberPower PC built it, according to my selections for parts.

It was $100 off on that day for RTX 3070's card, if you configured out in there. Pretty much, every part had a discount on it...except the PSU. Saved at least $500 on this; and this was the easiest way to get a RTX 3070. I needed a new desktop anyways, as my old desktop was old (i7 950; 16 GB RAM; GTX 970; W10 x64) and I want to take the strain off the GTX 1060 6GB laptop.

It was around $1635 after everything.

So, yeah - this PC at 1080p is smoking everything at maxed-out settings.

RAGE 2 = 120-200fps.
Watch Dogs 2 = 60-100fps.
Shadow of the TR = 60-100fps.
Witcher 3 = 100-150fps.
Fallout 4 = crashes too much at over 60fps. Over 100fps maxed-out, but crashes. 60fps lock saves it.

I need to benchmark World War Z, Control: Ultimate, and Battlefield 5 at this PC with RTX On and/or DLSS On.

And I also need to set-up my old Sony 4K monitor with 60fps up just to see how it does at 1440p and 4K.

that is an upgrade! 4k probably will make you cry a bit, unless you don't have to much trouble with loud spinnin fans

but yea at least you can play control in a decent way on 4k with dlss, on my 2k screen it does work wonders if you select 1700 x ..... something , and still with decent loads.... If your sony 4k has a displayport cabel going on that might also be very worthwile

i guess it will work its self out either way :-p

enjoy

oh and to keep in line of the post

currently having a go in

Per Aspera
Phoenix Point
Final Fantasy XV
Shadow Empire

casually

Total War Rome II
Total War Warhammer 2
Mass Effect Andromeda

and maybe once or twice a month rounds in

Fantasy General 2
Battlestar Galactica : Deadlock
Doom
Kingdoms of Amalur ( really, i'm pretty much bored with this game )
Gujian 3
Fell Seal : Arbiter's Mark ( would have played more if every new combat level would mean death etc etc seems i'm not cut out for this game on normal difficulty )

Playing Delores - A Thimbleweed Park Mini-Adventure.
Finished the Sea reaper campaign in Giants: Citizen Kabuto and played the first two Kabuto missions, I think I'll put the game away for now, the unwieldy gameplay for Kabuto gets a bit on my nerves. But it's a good game, one can still have a lot of fun with it.
Fallout 3, I finally got it to run.

Phoenix Point Anniversary Edition (A good TBS game in the vein of the old UFO: Enemy Unknown by Gollop, with a touch of new XCOM. Flawed and still unbalanced, but I really like it nonetheless)

Deus Ex Human Revolution (Deus Ex 2. Some may have heard of Invisible War, but this game does not exist. It’s a lie!)

Attack of the Earthlings (A light and fun TBS, with good cheesy humor)

Prey (2017) (Simply a fantastic immersive sim, up there with the original Deus Ex)

War for the Overworld (As close as you can get to the Dungeon Keeper 3 that never came to be)

Unreal Tournament 2004 (Simply the best old-school FPS, together with UT99)

Exapunks (Gotta love Zachtronics games, and as a fan of TIS-100, Shenzhen I/O, Infinifactory, etc. it’s a logical choice for me)

Whoops, I said Sony monitor; I meant Samsung.

Yes, my Samsung 4K monitor has 60hz support, Free-Sync, and both HDMI and Displayport.

My RTX 3070 PC has 6 fans and also a CoolerMaster ML240L. It's pretty quiet, especially when compared to my 1060 6gb laptop.

World War Z was running off the hook here on my RTX 3070 desktop PC here at 1080p maxed-out, with like 120-150 frames.
