Radiance1979: that is an upgrade! 4k probably will make you cry a bit, unless you don't have to much trouble with loud spinnin fans

but yea at least you can play control in a decent way on 4k with dlss, on my 2k screen it does work wonders if you select 1700 x ..... something , and still with decent loads.... If your sony 4k has a displayport cabel going on that might also be very worthwile

MysterD: Whoops, I said Sony monitor; I meant Samsung.

Yes, my Samsung 4K monitor has 60hz support, Free-Sync, and both HDMI and Displayport.

My RTX 3070 PC has 6 fans and also a CoolerMaster ML240L. It's pretty quiet, especially when compared to my 1060 6gb laptop.

World War Z was running off the hook here on my RTX 3070 desktop PC here at 1080p maxed-out, with like 120-150 frames.
heh, i actually read that the first time as your gpu has 6 fans, but oke.... so there's 2 in the front i guess with the coolermaster then what? 3 on the top and 3 at the back ?? that is quite a lot !

here's control btw, the resolution is 1707 x 960 from the back of my mind but the result is amazing, you can probably have this on 4k too with a 3070, maybe even use a higher dlss resolution...

more games need to implement dlss 2.0!

For the RGB 120mm fans - 3 on top, 1 in the back, 1 in the front. The Furion case they had was on sale also.
There's a CoolerMaster ML240L in there too.

Yeah, temps are mad low. Like, when doing nothing - 28-35 degrees Celsius.
Under load - sure, it actually gets...a bit hotter. Normal temps - in the 60's to 75C ballpark.

For comparison. my desktop:
* When idle, could go down to the 50's; with basic web browsing, perhaps in the 60s
* With mild/moderate stress, will go up to 100C, at which point the CPU throttles down to less than 250 MHz in an attempt to avoid overheating. (If I notice this while web browsing, I'll switch to a virtual terminal. send SIGSTOP to all Chromium processes, and then wait for things to cool down a bit before sending SIGCONT.)
* On semi-rare occasions, particularly if I let it work at 100C for too long, everything will freeze, the LEDs on my PS/2 keyboard (Num/Caps/Scroll Lock) will blink, and the entire system will shut down abruptly.

To give you an idea of what I can and can't do:
* Youtube works fine at 480p; at 720p, it will throttle after a couple minutes or so.
* Playing a downloaded video with mplayer will work at 1080p; if the video is higher quality than that, however, there will be throttling (and my monitor can only display 1080p).

Celeste works fine; it may throttle on the map screen, but in-game I can play for a long time without any issues.
Hollow Knight does not: It runs smoothly at first, but then there's so much lag that the game is unplayable. (Note that this is an action game.)
Ikenfell does not run at all, even though that game can run fine on my small laptop (Celeron, 4GB RAM).

Of interest:
* 28C is about 83F
* 35C is about 95F

As far as a human is concerned, these are hot, but manageable, temperatures; in other words, if it's this hot outside, it's still safe if reasonable precautions are taken, and it actually does get this hot during the summer.

Torchlight and Tropico 5. I gave Divinity - Original Sin one more go, third in total in these two years, I think, and I still can't get into it. The combat on tactician difficulty is way too hard, and healing potions are scarce.

So a total of 7 fans and you don't have a clue where the coolermaster cooling platform is mounted?

now i think of it, that rad metalhead did a whole episode 'bout the right way to mount the fan/cooler part of an AIO cooler setup. in short, if mounted on the front side the fluid hose should move from beneath the gpu ( south if you like ) towards the south side of the front mount, so down down, this to ensure air bubbles are kept at the top of the frame. apparently air bubbles can even have a negative effect on the lifetime of the AIO and some other very infrequent problems one can have because of the wrong mounting and probably faulty design of that specific aio cooler

this ' fault ' is commonly reproduced by many builders/prebuilds you'll find in stores or webshops near you

i myself did change the direction but only to get rid of the aquarium sounds i often heard during bootups or even when shifting weight or direction on the desk

your in action temps seem quite normal for someone pushing the 100 fps limit

My mistakes - for RGB fans: there's 2 in the front; 3 on top; 1 in the back.

The motherboard is in the back, on the right side of the PC. The cooler connection is on top and the pipes go all the way to the front of the PC.

aha oke, and no aquarium's sounds what so ever? well, never change a winning formula !!
I'm still playing through the Long War mod for XCOM: Enemy Within.

I just purchased Blade Runner, so I'll be looking to play that (for the first time :) too.

Nope. All's quiet on the PC front, thankfully.
(Trying to play) the Japanese version of 2064: Read Only Memories. Kinda hard when you know very little about the Japanese language, but I'm hopeful this will help in my studies
Heroes of Might & Magic III HD Edition on Steam, although I have the complete version (GOG's) installed, for the achievements and reliving my younger years.
Torchlight and Tropico 5. I gave Drox Operative a try, and I did not like it.
Wolfenstein 3D and Grim Dawn. All these years and I've never beaten Wolfenstein. I think I'm going to make it this time.
Currently playing The Alliance Alive.

Save file says Chapter 5, even though I am still rather early in the game.

Can't tell you my characters' levels are, as there does not appear to be such a stat.

By the way, for a time the female character had more HP than the male lead. In games like this, sometimes you get strange luck with stat boosts, which can lead to this sort of inversion.
Currently playing Interrogation: You Will Be Deceived and Legacy of Kain: Defiance. The former is an interesting game and cannot wait to see what happens next. The latter on the other hand is not so good. Compared to Soul Reaver 1 and 2, Defiance and the one before it is severely lacking.
