The earlier brain freeze i mentioned concerning ashes of singularity might had something to do with either my monitor or deciding to remove the aorus engine for my gpu. After reinstalling the engine i had a distinct feeling of relief on the eyes. Either way i changed my 27" monitor for a 24" one that came with an older system someone else did not had any need for anymore. After checking the specs of both monitors i discovered this one coming with less brigthness scale but with a more advanced color depth system and a digital scaler. Seemed more appropiate to use with the newer system not to mention that i wanted to try going smaller either way. So Ashes of Singularity will receive another attempt.
As will some other games. The support from EPIC explained to me that moving games around on your system from drive to drive could cause some instabilities even if the game launcher supports the moving around of games.
Now i find myself adjusting again to much smaller fonts, a somewhat more bleek windows enviroment, might as well call the 27" oversaturiated, and a smaller enviroment alltogether. First day to day bussiness and then lets see if i can keep the unknown enemy out of my galaxy!
Is it just me or is the Homeworld Remastered much easier that the original Homeworld?

I recall I struggled a lot in the earlier Homeworld in e.g. the mission where you had to destroy asteroids from your mothership's path (I quite soon got overwhelmed by the sheer amount of the asteroids coming from many directions), and now one of the later missions where a big-ass asteroid is heading towards your mothership. Now they didn't feel hard at all.

I recall I had to retry that big-asteroid mission many many MANY times in the original, until finally succeeding in destroying the asteroid, JUST before it hit the mothership. In the remaster, I destroyed it on my first attempt with like 3 minutes to spare before the impact.

Now, it is possible that I simply have a much better fleet in the remaster, but I don't think it is about that either. It just felt that the asteroid in the remaster could be destroyed much faster.

I had that feeling with the last mission of the first one.... In my mind i remembered a difficult game where you had to destroy 2 roaming fleets before you could approach the home system and win while in the newer version it felt like a breeze in the park. Maybe you need to play the game a couple of times to unlock all there is ? i do remember more comments about the differences between old and remastered. The second one felt equally difficult since those missions are setup on a whole other level, no pause button you can abuse for example and you are expected to show more skill and understanding in your deployments and force choices.

Your final remark could also be true, at least i would expect to have a much better understanding of tactics then i had at the age of 18/20 not sure anymore. What also could be the missing is your fleet strenght, maybe newbie you managed to gather a overal stronger fleet then the one you had on your last playthrough?

Yeah, I had a similar impression. The sequel's remaster imo is far better overall and still has a decent difficulty curve.
Phantasy Star 3 poison weirdness:

In Phantasy Star 3, poison works differently from most RPGs; instead of doing damage over time, it prevents the character from being healed. In particular, this means that:
* Going to the inn will not restore HP or TP.
* Res (heals single character) will not work.
* Gires (heals entire party) will not work, (though non-poisoned characters still get healed).
* Anti (cures poison, but not guaranteed to work) will, of course, work if successful.

(There is one rather interesting consequence of this behavior; instead of curing poison right away, as you would in most RPGs (excluding those where it wears off on its own), it's best to wait until the character actually needs healing to cure it, especially early in the game when healing resources are scarce and poison is way too common.)

However, there are a couple ways around the rule that poisoned characters can't be healed:
* Rever (if successful, revives a dead character with full HP) can still work, but only if the character is dead. While this spell will revive and heal the character, said character is still poisoned.
* Nasak (if successful, kills the caster to fully heal the rest of the party) will work (assuming it succeeds); I discovered this just now.

(Items that mimic techniques, including healing items, follow the same rules as the techniques. though note that some of them (like the Antidote) cast the techniques at a power level so high that it can't fail.)
Outcast 1.1 - How can a game this ugly, possess so much charm? Enjoying it a lot.
Darksiders III

I knew it was 'inspired' by Dark Souls, but man, I didn't know it was that bad, they implemented way, way too many shitty Dark Souls mechanics...

- losing 'souls' on death
- the insta-win dodge mechanic, at least you're not rolling over the floor like a fucking lunatic
- upgrading weapons a la Dark Souls
- a healing flask
- and more...

The game isn't hard (Souls-likes aren't hard in general), I'm just ranting because another great franchise was infested by the abominable meme-game, that is Dark Souls. :(

Edit:
This game is an utter piece of shit. I'm so sick of pressing the fucking dodge button over and over again to use a counterstrike. This pos should be called 'press dodge to win'.
Hopefully they drop this crap for the next game.
Rant over. :P

Abandoned the game, I probably won't touch it again. :P

Assassin's Creed Director's Cut
I have quite a few games "on hold". I should continue one of them... but right now, I feel like playing Gray Matter.
I'm playing Gray Matter... I don't have much to say about it yet - I like it so far.
The character portraits look like they were from GK3. In general, I keep thinking animated 2D for everything would've been a better choice for this game.
Prey 2017 is an amazing game. I picked it up during the Summer sale and I'm having a blast. Thief and Deus Ex fans have to give this game a try.
The Gloomwood demo was okay I guess. I'll probably save my money and play some Thief fan missions instead.
