dtgreene: On the other hand, you still can't change your class,
No, but you can always make just... one... more... character... *twitch*
No appropriate conditions for real gaming so just clicking Enigmatis: The Ghosts of Maple Creek...
Slowly working my way through BloodRayne, which I have played a bit several times a week over a fairly long time. Now I am up against a bunch of mechas. This was not what I had in mind when I bought a vampire game grrrr.

Thinking of what else to play besides this as I need breaks from this game.

are you heavily against DRM, because StarCraft Remastered is on sale.

Semi-heavy (I need to lose weight...) I have sworn never to pay more than a pittance for a drm'd game ever again as it angers me not to be able to play a game I have paid for because some stupid copy protection is hindering me.
I have looked at Star Craft long ago already and again when I read about it getting a remaster and it is not my kind of game. I do play some RTS (I think I have 15-20 of them + some more with some RTS mechanics) but it is not my No 1 type of game. Besides, €10 (current discounted price) would take quite a bit of my budget for luxuaries.

I could install one of the games that I have not yet, like Fallout: New Vegas (and mod it).

tinyE: Kind of OT. I'm curious about a game I haven't actually played.

Putting aside all of the DRM crap, and with Blizzard there is A LOT OF IT, and all the reviews in print, can anyone and everyone who has ever played Diablo 3 give me a fair assessment of it? How does it compare to 1 and 2? Mechanics? I've heard it was dumbed down, "cartooned" up.

I ask because it is pretty cheap right now and if I'm going to put up with the copious pain of running it, I'd rather do it with a huge discount. :P
If you're after the Diablo feel and don't mind the download size then perhaps consider checking out Path of Exile (trailer). I played it for a little bit into the third act and thought it felt like a proper Diablo 2 sequel. It's free to play though but the monetary system seemed fair and completely unobtrusive. There are other players, but you only see them in the towns and not in the actual zones with monsters (unless you want to group with someone which is never necessary as far as I could tell).
The only other thing that's very different from Diablo is the skill/leveling system. It is far, far more complex.

Truth be told I had some difficulty with their servers, but that might be less of an issue for someone on the same continent as the server :P

yeah I tried that, it's no go. But thank you for the suggestion.

I'm actually not looking for anything. It's just that I bought Diablo 1 and 2 on the days they were released and this morning I got to thinking I'd like a definitive take in D3 once and for all. Of course, taste is totally subjective, so you can't get definitive.

Yeah I wouldn't mind a definitive take on it either, especially now years later. I lost all interest in it initially when I found out about the real money auction house, but last I heard they removed that.

Matewis: ...the real money auction house,...
When I read a review for the game at release, I stopped reading when this was mentioned and went elsewhere, never looked back at the game ever since.
Well I just reached the really hard missions of SC so I'm going to stop there. I'm doing this for fun and don't feel like the hell that are the really late missions in those games. I have won them all in the past so I've nothing left to prove to myself.

Yup instantly knew that was a compromise to the game design I wouldn't be able to get around.
Mostly played Gurumin and Trails in the sky FC.
About Gurumin there is some snow men on tables and Parin can wear a kimono for a couple of days of new year, also i think the game still hasn't received a fix from mastiff or gog but heard that mastiff were contacted about this.
It does seem rather sad for gog that they are selling a broken game with a missing file from the time it was released here, while steam no one had this problem about crashing on true end,the fix is currently only on the sub forum as long as the file is uploaded.
Trails in the sky fc pretty decent game though still in the prologue taking care of fathers job, which i just done the 3rd one but have to report it. Like the tactical rpg fights and the characters by now aren't bad, it certainly peaks my interest this game always to speak to everyone after you done some main mission to hear them say something different. It does kinda feel close to those rpg maker games i played which some were rather awesome. Also watching out i don't miss too much out in this game.

Doki Doki Literature Club (free on both Steam and itch.io)

Let me just say I have never been so glad to be wrong about a game before. Between both its style and genre, I hated this game for the first bit of playing it. But then I started to really get into it. If you guys have not tried it yet, I highly recommend doing so. Just go in knowing absolutely nothing if possible.

Just out of curiosity, which ones did you find really challenging? During my last full playthrough nine years ago, the end of the Zerg campaign in Brood War gave me huge problems. "The Reckoning" was quite brutal, as was "Omega', since you're constantly attacked from every direction.

the last two missions off all the Brood War campaigns.
They AREN'T impossible, but hard/very hard and when I replay a game I've won several times I do it for pure fun, to kick back and relax. Those last missions are doable, but you really really have to concentrate and move move move.
