I was trying to give
C&C: Red Alert another shot today, this time starting the Soviet campaign, but, damn, I'm just not good enough in strategies.
Missions in the game are varied and very nicely designed, but they also require to follow very strict order and it's just too much for me. I remember finding the proper path during many replays, when I was a kid, but now I'm just too old and too slow to succeed - my dogs are killed by friendly-fire of tanks and rocket launchers, my infrantry is mown by peaceful harvesters of my enemy etc. ;) And also the very first missions does not provide any base to recreate units killed in action...
Themken: Yeah, some games certainly look drab at the lowest settings. Good you got your new commputer working, fixed or replaced. :-)
There is interesing phenomenon here, because I'm fine with terrible graphics of very old games, but for newer titles, when settings are lowered to much, they look just ugly and are unplayable for me (even if they still look much better then oldies!).
