Tried out neo scavenger. Hot top: boil all water before drinking! My powerful character, I thought, just died of cholera :\
Still playing through Breath of the Wild (Wii U version).

King Rhoam: "You must save her...my daughter."
*15+ hours later*
Me: "Oh right, I think I'll go to Hyrule Castle to save her."
*Heads over there, and dies horribly inside the castle*

Haven't really touched any of the major dungeons yet, but still having fun screwing around the map.

I love the way the game trolls you with this. Puts the endgame within reach after an hour of gameplay, but makes it so feckin' hard that you have little choice but to play the game properly. Makes you feel perfectly inadequate, especially given that there are people out there who have done it.

To add insult to injury, there are two quests early on in one of the nearby "stables" - one of them wants a certain type of food, the other certain weapons. Where is the only place one can acquire said goods? That's right: Hyrule Castle, and the quest-givers make a point of highlighting this to you. Those quests have been sat in my log, uncompleted, for around 30 hours of gameplay.

If you're talking about the shrines, I recommend doing them as you see them, as they're not particularly long, and the shrine orbs are essential to build up your heart gauge and stamina gauge. At the very least, you should go near enough to them to make sure they register on your map for later attempts. Also extremely well-designed in terms of puzzles.

I've been doing a bunch of shrines whenever I find them (I think I've completed around 25 so far), and mainly been upgrading my stamina (2 bars right now). I agree that they're pretty great overall, although the one in Hateno Village just outright frustrated me. I was mainly referring to the ones (which from what I heard are much larger, and are treated like traditional dungeons) that are tied to the main quest involving the 4 major tribes that you meet.

Witcher 2

This was one of (if not the first?) games I bought when I jumped back into PC gaming and it was fantastic. I almost finished it and then quit very near the end. Because I just wrapped up the first Witcher, I figured what the heck - I've forgotten most of the story of 2, let's go for back to back. So I started it up fresh a couple nights ago.

The funny part - I was going to grab The Witcher 3 GOTY this sale and dive into that.

Once I finished up 1 and had the inclination to give 2 a shot again, I thought I might as well try and play through 2. I can grab 3 at a later time - but then when I finally do play it I'll have the previous two games fresh in my mind (assuming I don't OD on Witcher in the mean time ;) ).

I'm curious - I remember it being a fairly lenghty game, but not so overbearingly so - it's not some 70 hour monster from what I remember. I'm hoping I can actually complete it this time around.

Oh and funny enough - I played Mouse and Keyboard the first time around. I know people complained a bit about "consolitis" (despite the fact that the game is still excellent) but I have to admit, using an XBox controller this time around feels so much smoother and more responsive. Not so much in menus / inventory, but certainly exploration and especially combat.

If you're talking about the ball maze shrine, I never actually found the Hateno Village one all that hard or frustrating, save perhaps for the need to get up off my couch because I had to get the GamePad (I'm playing with a Pro Controller). :)

I think I know which main dungeons you mean though. I've just done the desert trek to Gerudo and stopped there last night, so I'll be having a crack at one of the Divine Beast dungeons later on this evening.
Trine enhanced edition

Beautiful game, great music and quite fun. Reminds me a bit of The Lost Vikings.
I am starting Jotun; that i traded here for another game. It looks nice, i like the camera moving in and out of focus to the action and scenery; controls seems poor with my trusty ol' x360 pad and i have read it is more of a boss run game; but i will try to like it for what it is, i make half a dozen hours to spend there...
Well, not now now, but my weekend starts tomorrow after work so I'll be heading back into Avernum: Escape From The Pit, and NEO Scavenger.
I've had the unfortunate/fortunate fate of trying out Path of Exile. I didn't expect to get sucked in it as I ventured ahead in game.

Not many Free to Play MMO's get my attention, especially when the cash shop can imbalance the game, this one however doesn't and unless you don't mind having a somewhat less flashy character, you will not be stepped over by other players. With enough interest I may even start chipping in some money sometimes.

As a bonus: It runs perfectly with Wine on Linux.

I wonder if I could hire someone to make a Miniature Donkey mod for that.

Just finished New Vegas and it's DLCs. Don't know what to play next.
Tried a few levels of the first Warcraft again. Nostalgia game remains strong!
