I've found that in quite many older games, which support also higher resolutions, the problem for me becomes that text and objects become far too small, when they apparently were designed for 640x480 or 800x600 resolutions. This includes even 3D games like System Shock 2, Deus Ex, Unreal etc. Then again for those using the lower resolutions isn't that much of a problem as there really isn't that much detail anyway (texture quality etc.) which would make the higher resolutions that more useful. E.g. when i played System Shock 2 one or two years ago... I first tried to play it on some higher resolution but I think I ended up playing it at either 640x480 or 800x600 because the text really became quite small to read, and the game objects in your inventory etc. were so tiny.

I guess staring at a bigger monitor (than my 17.3 inch laptop screen) helps with that. I have sometimes played on my 47" HDTV but it still has the same problem as I am quite a longer away from it than a monitor.

Newer games don't generally seem to have these kinds of problems, everything seems to be designed so that no matter which resolution you choose, everything is scaled properly. Then I am free to choose as high resolution as my computer can comfortably run, up to 1920x1080 (that's e.g. where I run TeamFortress 2 with max details, getting 60 fps).

DeusExHR. Just hyping myself up to get ready to play Mankind Divide when its cheap enough to buy.
Sang Froid: Tales of Werewolves. Chose Jack as my character, and finding it a challenge, but I shall persevere until I triumph over those dirty lycanthropes!
The Witcher 3 GOTY

I've only played a 110 hours, though, so I've just barely made it to Skellige...
Fired up Banished again.

I don't know what it is about this time of year, but it just seems to set the perfect atmosphere to get into this one. Plus, I had a little bit of time after dinner the last few days and if there's a better game to relax with while sipping a hot coffee I can't think of it (usually I do my gaming in the late evening).

Matewis: It's been a while but I don't remember pixel hunting to be a common feature much, or at all, after that damn 'find the book' quest. Or in the very least, I don't remember struggling to find something ever again in the way that I struggled to find that book.
Ack! I proceeded to Modoc, and it seems there may be several awful pixel-hunting quests there, people wanting me to find gold watches and whatnot for them.

For instance when you try to find little Jonny, you are supposed to find his BB gun. What the heck, how am I supposed to see THAT? See the pictures.

Torchlight 1! At last i killed Ordrak and started on that crypt endless maze thing! But boy, this char of mine sucks at fishing... Anything other than common fish and crappy boots snap the rope and get away... I need to open horse level and get the fishing rares, but NOTHING! And i am level 37!
Now that I have a computer all to myself, I figured it would be a good time to dive into a good rpg. I'm trying to focus on Might and Magic VI exclusively and really make some headway in it, but I always start to think about other games like Baldur's Gate and Ultima 7 and how cool they are. I don't know why, but it's pretty had for me to focus on one rpg for too long before I think I might have a funner time playing a different one. Although I have played and beaten Baldur's Gate and Fallout all the way through and enjoyed myself incredibly. I think I just need to play MM6 a little longer to get to the really fun parts of the game.

Oh yes I remember that. I loved the above ground effect of using explosives to get past the rocks down the well XD

I think what makes that one easier than the book one is that it's a very small area where you have to look for it. Still, I think you might just've had some bad luck going to modoc after the den. I quickly scanned over Fallout 2's quests again, by area, and it doesn't seem like there are any more such quests besides the BB gun&gold watch ones in Modoc, and one more in a later town.

Yes, those were the two quests I had in mind when I said there were a couple more pixel-hunts. Like Matewis says above, I can't recall any more like this, so you should be OK from now on.
Still playing Final Fantasy XIV ARR

I'm also trying to finish Star Wars Kotor 2 which is probably my favourite RPG and Xenoblade Chronicles on 3DS

Xenoblade is pretty good but sometimes playing it feels like a chore
Fallout 2... god damn it I hate it when I run into some bug which makes some quest unsolvable. I have fixed and optimized the reactor in Gecko, and after that I am supposed to bring the optimization holodisc to that good guy in the Vault City in order to for the Vault City and Gecko towns to start a business partnership, which is supposed to give Gecko a good ending and the end game.

Except, that the guy at Vault City doesn't give me an option to discuss about the optimization or doing business with Gecko. Googling for it, apparently this is a known problem in the official 1.2 patch of Fallout 2, and e.g. the Killap's unofficial patch is supposed to fix that, among other things.

I presume I can't install Killap at this point and continue playing, but I'd have to replay the whole game from the start. Damn it, I guess I'll have to continue with this broken game. I wish I had installed the Killap before starting to play. I hope I won't face any other major bugs, I e.g. read something about your car (which I don't have yet) constantly disappearing without the Killap update...
Got myself hooked on playing PureSim Baseball again. A little Arena and a little Might & Magic World of Xeen. With a touch of Victoria. But mostly can't stop playing baseball for now....

I used Killap's unofficial patch and the Gecko power plant worked correctly, so I assume it did fix it.

As far as I'm aware if you installed Killap's patch now, you couldn't use your current saves.

Can't help you regarding the car. The only problem I had with it was that very occasionally it would get stuck at a wilderness encounter i.e I couldn't continue to my original destination. So I got into the habit of always saving before setting off on a journey.
After finishing Two Worlds 2 + Addon I'm now playing Titan Quest AE and Evolva.
