Played some Ultima 1 the past day and am really enjoying it. Why can't more RPGs be like this? (I like the combination of turn-based gameplay, the game being fast paced, the focus being on character growth, and the lack of annoying things like story; the one downside is the mandatory real-time space pilot minigame near the end of the game.)
Seeing as how gog is going to drag its feet forever in releasing New Vegas, I decided to itch my Fallout scratch by dusting off my old GFWL disc version of F3. Did a couple of .ini tweaks to get it working for Win 7/quad core. So far, so good.

Those tweaks and GFWL patch fixes, though. Another reason DRM is retarded. It rarely has longevity or compatibility, requiring even larger hurdles to climb in order to play in the nostalgia box.

Yeah I still don't know what that's about.
What issues pop up with Win 7/Quad core?
I've had no major issues with Fallout 3 myself using Win 7 while using a quad core.
Playing Agarest: Generations of War and Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 (both from sale haul >;D). Funny, quite good for their premises and lots of fanservice :P.

It's not optimized for multi core due to its age. Ini config has to be tweaked to allow multi core use (though I hear it works without messing with the ini file).

As far game issues, lots of people experience crashes and stuttering on newer OS. F3 used to crash on me all the time, mainly due to FOMM working under Win 7. Just buggy as hell. So far it's fine on my new install running clean with no FOMM or mods. No crashes yet.

Most of my crashes were on New Vegas though I've played that one WAY more.
I don't really like 3 all that much but I've finished it.

Thank you for the info. ;)
- Mount & Blade: Warband
- Star Wars: Battlefront 2
- LIMBO

New Vegas is WAY better, I agree. But the only version I have is the PS3 version and it runs like it's giving my PS3 the diabeetus.

So, it's either F3 with good graphics and base game play, or glitchy low res New Vegas on PS3. *waiting for the appropriate 'hey, just load up F1 and enjoy a superior RPG' reply. XD

Driver San Fransisco
; it is better than i expected.

I was blown away by the first Driver NOVELTY and technical awesomeness on my Playstation back in the time; the second left me no fond memories except it had terrible framerate issues and crappy 3rd person character parts...

The Driv3r i recall to have read reviews and seen it play very poorly, looking hollow... I did not buy, not try it...

Parallel Lines looked OK at first sight but by the time, seeing it on this last Summer sale on GOG hesitating to pick it up, I sadly judged from the game page its art style and 3D aged badly to my current standards...

So here i am playing the last one and it seems to reconcile with the series aura... I like the reasonably balanced challenge and love the funny comments. Damn right!!

Argh! Too many new games between GOG's and Steam's summer sales. Help! =P I did pick up a handful of games from Steam just now that I've been meaning to get for some time. Thankfully, my Steam wallet credit took care of all of them...

So I just started playing the very first Call of Juarez. I'm quite enjoying it even with it being totally linear. I must say I'm having way too much fun with Billy's OP'ed bow. That aim slowdown makes head-shotting enemies in quick succession a breeze. Not only that, but I can reuse those arrows again by collecting them from the corpses. Neat! ;) That preacher is pretty bad-ass, too. So far so good. :)

Before that I did finish Ori of the Blind Forest. Quite the lovely game. I don't see why people have problems with the story. Yeah, it's pretty simple, but I did enjoy it, especially in the way it was presented. Some of the escape levels were a bit irritating, but in general I didn't find the game too harsh. I read that the original version didn't feature teleport points. Now that must have been a pain and a half having to run back and forth so much. Anyway, I had a really good time with it. As far as platformers on GOG go, I'd say only Rayman Origins bests it.

I'm giving up on Divinity Original Sin EE for the moment. I just can't get into it.
Gonna try Anachronox, hopefully nostalgia will be enough to keep me interested.
Well, I am in the middle of playing Feist and I am having a very hard time with it... :/ It has great atmosphere i.e. the visuals and the audio but the gameplay gets much harder the further you get, and I mean much harder. :|

I play it for a single level per session and then let it go and do something else to unwind... :\

That sounds more like work then play.

It is becoming increasingly so, indeed. If it persists, I will most probably have to forsake it. :/

I agree. There always is a feeling of accomplishment when completing a difficult task but games are meant to be a form of recreation. If I find myself getting stressed out due to a game its defeating the purpose.
fun > work
