Soviet-Afghan War - one last time before i get rid of it.

Guild of Dungeoneering.
Like I previously said, I don't have a lot of time to play games this time of year, but I recently got FTL (thanks LaPtiteBete!!!), and that allows me to play for short periods, and wind down a bit more than some things. Most games I tend to like to play I really only prefer to play if I have at least 2 hours to play, if not more and also can't just jump into after a busy day. There aren't many games I've ever discovered where I feel satisfied playing in short bits (or liked the gameplay of the games that allow more for playing in shorter bits/being less involved.) I've got a little down time now after the day, and usually I'd be popping on a few episodes of something to unwind, but doing it with a game like FTL or Tales of Maj'Eyal or Terraria lately has proven very very nice, and welcomed!

Shadowrun Returns. This one gets more or less mixed reviews from what I've seen, but I'm really enjoying it. Graphically it looks great, the sound is good, the writing is pretty good and it even has turn based combat that I actually like!
Necrovision.

Weirdest FPS I've played in a while. And that's a good thing!
Victor Vran. Nice diablo like clone. Different mechanism for upgrades. Only downside - get killed and respawn can be a ways back.
Still stuck on "7 Days to Die"... I know it's unfinished and all, but I'm a fixated fellow at times (I'll play one game into the ground until I'm sick of it)

Was playing "Savage Lands" for a while, but it still needs more content.
I jumped into the modern age with my first recent FPS in a while - Shadow Warrior 2013. Awesome, cheesy, fun and excellent game - everything about it is fluid and beautiful with a pefect set of gameplay mechanics, gorgeous visuals, laugh out loud moments and fun gameplay.

I've also been playing (but put on the back burner due to SW2013) the second Van Helsing game. I like the tower defense stuff, I like the Assassin's Creed Brotherhood "Mission" stuff where I pick a captain and send him off, I like the gameplay segments where I feel brilliant and gameplay just dances as I effortlessly switch between melee and ranged, peppering in skills all the way.

What I DON'T like is I feel large parts of the game simply require me to spend money to win. For every section where I think it's my skill flipping between guns and swords which carries the day, there are ten where I just spend the gold to respawn. I either suck at the game, or it really does intend cash to be used solely as a mechanic to progress. Frustrating. I don't like "Kill a guy, die, buy a respawn, kill a guy, die, buy a respawn..." over and over again. And because the respawn is (thankfully!) proportional to your current gold, there's no reason you can't keep doing it over and over and over again. Doesn't sit well with me as a gameplay loop, which is a shame because so much else of the game is done right.

I've never heard of this one - I'm guessing serious grognard hexbased wargame? Is it recent? Or a throwback? Also, nice to see you! Hope you're doing well! (I rudely asked a personal question once and had enough of an answer to hope everything's been on the up and up!).

drealmer7: but I recently got FTL
I just saw this. I don't know what it is about the game, but FTL is that special sort of perfect game. Probably one of my favorites of the last few years. I'm not even sure what it is it does and yet at the same time I can't figure out why other game can't capture "it" as well as FTL. It's so simple, yet deep. You're always "kind of" doing the same thing every time, yet it's different every time you play. There's no story, but your little guys weave their own story just by moving from one dot to the next. I so love this game!

Well I'm completely new to GOG. I just started playing ARX Fatalis. I'm completely lost as to how anyone can assume that a dagger is going to kill several enemies when you can 1) only hit with it so many times 2) the enemies are like twice your size. But other than that I really enjoy it so far... aside from the aggravation of trying to kill too many enemies with not enough weaponry. I hope things get better...

I'm curious: what character are you using?
I decided to go for a Dwarf Mage, since it is probably as far as you can get from the typical trope (usually Dwarves have little or no magic powers and do not trust wizards)... and he was a real juggernaut of destruction! Maybe even a bit overpowered.
Hitman: Blood Money

Finally got around to Hitman: Blood Money. And finally, during the 5th mission i worked out how to access the mission briefing and buy intel once the mission starts...okay it's the "b" key which i guess makes sense now i think about it- b for briefing. But they still could of put it in the manual, which i took the time to read and everything.

One of my favorite series, but so far i still think the first game is best, but i'm only 5 missions into BM so so that may still change.

I'm using an Elf, and am building her up to be a rifle specialist as none of the preset classes caught my eye. Playing on medium difficulty, I just dealt with the ripper and have had pretty much no problems at all. It does feel pretty easy and I have an excess of Karma that I've not spent (over 20 points).

The game is pretty easy, indeed. I am planning to start Dragonfall on the maximum difficulty with a Human Physical Adept that does not shy away from augmentations: that should make things a lot more spicey! :)
Still, despite being so easy, I agree that Shadowrun returns remains a very good and enjoyable game.
Mass Effect 1

Completed Mass Effect 2 yesterday [poor Tali]

it's like playing a pre-sequel ^^, did the same with syberia, played 2 first then 1.

I tend to do this, this way I get to know the story better.
I was playing Earthbound a couple minutes ago
Civilization 5
Really enjoying the game more this time playing through it, maybe because it's not on easy difficulty anymore. May get the complete edition when it goes on sale. Also is just me or does the AI cheat?

CS:GO
I'm at the point where I used to enjoy this game but now at the 100+ hour mark I'm just so tired of playing it; really feels like I'm playing it for the item drops and not for the game anymore. May just uninstall it at this point, there's better games to take up my time.

System Shock 1 DEMO
Wanted to see how well this game matches up from what I've heard so I downloaded the [DOS] demo. While I COMPLETELY understand you have mouse look and better controls in the gog version(also audio and music) I don't think it I would enjoy that much if I did buy it so I'm holding off on doing so(at least till it's dirt cheap).

Doom 1
Played through all "Knee-Deep in the Dead" levels with my nephew, really enjoyed the co-op play more than I thought I would. May try playing more of the game as I haven't beaten it fully yet.

Gears of War 3
I couldn't get into this game, not a big fan of the gears series at all(did beat 1 and 2 though)

Dark Souls 1
I got to level 30 on my character(still stuck on the 3rd boss grrr) though sadly my windows 10 preview edition told me it's going to randomly restart after 2 hours if I don't get the full version so I sadly- decided to delete my windows partition altogether. Not sure if I'll ever get windows 10 or not, maybe in a family gaming computer build (really want to play ultra street fighter 4 and Dark Souls 1-3).

Curse of the Azure Bonds (Archive.org Version)
I've been really wanting the "The Forgotten Realm Archives - Collection Two" but I have no way of really knowing if I'll like the games or not and those games (from what I can tell) don't have any demos; so anyway after remembering archive.org having the game(s) in a stream-only version I decided to check it out and well I'm glad I did as I didn't enjoy the game nearly as much as I thought I would.
