As far as the graphical glitches, I figure that's more than likely because I was running it at 1080p. Something the game probably wasn't really designed to handle, being originally written for PS1. I didn't play around with different resolutions to verify this though, since the gamepad issue was the bigger problem.

I just use a standard-issue PS3 controller, which has worked fine in every other game I've tried it with. Apparently LoK:SR has issues with gamepads in general, judging by this thread. According to that I could use something called Xpadder to fix it, but I don't know what that is.

Regardless, it all comes back to that point of "Why fight it when I can just use the PS1 disc?"

Ground Control 2. And man, was I stupid to wait for so many years. I always loved the original Ground Control (as well as World in Conflict) but could never get myself to beat it - during my last playthrough I finally noticed that it's because GC1 wasn't that good a game. I really wanted to beat it before playing GC2 (I wasn't aware that the plots are pretty much unrelated).

Anyway, finally beat GC1 last year, skipped the addon, went on to GC2 and I'm blown away. It's almost exactly what I wanted, middleground between Ground Control 1 and World in Conflict. Great pace, an amount of micro management which even I can handle, great atmosphere... unless there's going to be some ridiculously frustrating moments I'm going to beat it soon. The only complaint I have is that it's a bit too easy. The second mission was surprisingly tough and insanely dynamic, things got a bit slower and easier during the next couple of missions. Hope it's gonna get a bit harder and faster again soon, though.

Also I'm currently in a playthrough of Emergency 3 but not sure if I'm going to beat it. In some ways it's a really cool game but it's just so ridiculously clunky and frustrating at times.

Jade Empire. I finally got around to playing it for the first time and it seems fun. The frame rate is generally fine but it does have the infrequent short (about a second long) hiccup, changing the graphics settings doesn't help so I imagine it's got something to do with the engine. The dialogue seems rather wooden and the characters are walking stereotypes, but nothing too terrible. The gameplay itself is fun enough and graphically it's rather pretty.

Could you talk a bit in depth about how you feel about it? That's a game on my 'to buy" list but I haven't heard too many people talking about it.

On topic: Fallout: New Vegas. Caesar fell pretty easily, as did Mr. Computer Screen, I suppose the ending I really want is a truly independent ending where I side with absolutely nobody. If that isn't possible then I'll just stick with Yes Man. If I give New Vegas another playthrough I think I'll go with the Legion, who have absolutely hated me in this one haha.

Huniepop. It's such a fun game to play. It's emberassing to admit it but I like it a lot. I haven't been addicted to a game this much in a looong time.

I hope Deep Silver will release it before the end of the world...

By the way, do you know if there are other known faces around? Also, I wonder why Pirhanha Bytes changed the protagonist with the last installment.

Another question: did PB implemented the shadows right, this time? My PC could run Risen 2 and more demanding games maximized with no problem, yet high shadow details there "paralyzed" my framerate in a few areas.

Unfortunately I cant really answer any of your questions, I have only played Risen 1, although I have R2, I had forgotten I had it and bought R3 on impulse because I was going to get Ravens Cry, but was advised against it, hence I am playing out of sequence.

As regards shadows etc. I have a pretty crap PC and the game plays fine on it mostly even though my machine is below spec for the game, I haven't noticed anything bad in particular about the shadows, but that could just be my PC.

I am about 17 hours in and have just left the first island to continue the main quest and still having a blast. When you leave the first main island, you gat attacked at sea and the controls were fine but I couldn't invert the aim, but I expect there will be more sea combat, which is a nice addition.

If I had a complaint, its that there are probably too many quests (most are optional), but I have not yet had a crap quest, they have all been interesting so far.

Just fyi, for some reason the maximum detail in shadows in R2 is apparently incapable of running properly. Even if my specs abundantly surpass the recommended requirements, in areas with thick vegetation the framerate dropped by 20-30. I heard the same from people with rigs far superior to mine, too. Lowering the setting just a bit solved the problem, allowing a constant 60.

F.E.A.R.

I just had my first few enemy encounters and I've gotta say that the AI is impressive. They've used various tactics including ambushes, flanking, constantly seeking cover, leaning around said cover, moving around the area to get better angles to attack from etc. I'm legitimately impressed. They aren't bullet sponges which is another major plus for me, I really dislike spongy non-boss/elite enemies.

More F.E.A.R., a few minutes of Two Worlds and I'm re-downloading Oblivion so I can give the Nehrim mod a try, which I've heard a lot of good things about.

More Ninja Gaiden 2 (Xbox 360 version). I'm about done from the looks of it (already got the True Dragon Sword, so not too much longer).

Also started Majora's Mask 3D.

Absolutely love Ninja Gaiden 2. It defeated me, but I loved every minute of it. It just plain rocks.
