An old freeware game called "Star Wars: The Battle of Yavin"

I was reminded of this old gem when I played Race the Sun (which I don't like that much after all, too simple). I recalled playing this back in 2004 or 2005 and liking it a lot, glad to find it again.
Seems to work fine on Windows 7, some explosions have little graphical artifacts (of not being fully transparent?), but otherwise it still looks, sounds and plays great. It is more of a 3D arcade shooter than a proper "space combat sim", but it always captured the feeling of the grand scale Star Wars combat so well, and with a very low learning curve. The kind of game you play a few rounds, enjoying the graphics and sounds.
If only most indie developers had as much passion and love for their work as this indie developer had already back in 2004... Is there a pay version of this? Or can it only exist as a freeware game due to the SW license?
