Now I am also stuck to playing Serious Sam (both Classic and HD) side by side, I don't know why. :) Just to see the differences I guess.
I think the most important thing in the HD version is that it supports also widescreen (properly) and up to 1920x1080. I wish the Classic would do that too. The Classic has also widescreen mode in the options, but at least for me that doesn't seem to work right. If I enable widescreen mode, I still don't seem to get proper widescreen resolutions in the options, and/or I get black borders on all sides.
So I guess I'll have to play the Classic in 1024x768 in 4:3. It still looks lovely that way.
99% of the time the HD version looks better (usually "somewhat better", but e.g. vegetation looks considerably better on HD), but there are odd things missing that are in the original. Like in the first level, the room with a pool, the Classic version has this very cool looking shimmer on the walls from the water. The HD version is lacking that for some reason, but on the other hand the water itself looks cooler on it, full reflection with small ripple.
