keeveek: Don't listen to the people who have no idea what they're talking about! Silent Hill 4 is great. It has a lot of interesting ideas compared to dull and "generic" Silent Hill 3.

I don't know about problems with the port. I played without any.

And depending on what scares you... SH4 is the only part of the game that gave me horrible, horrible nightmares almost every night after playing it (of course I played all of them at night with headphones)
I hear ya. Those Victims sure had me scared. O_O

Yeah. I know this one is pretty generic for Japanese horror, but it haunted me for a long freaking time...

Yeah, vanilla even with the "hardcore" mode on gets really boring after a while. :)

Mods for all cRPGs, it's the best reason to not be a console gaming loser. With New Vegas is much much better of a game than Fallout 3 because of how much more accurately it fits in with the Fallout universe and the much added depth. The problem was the heavy amount of bugs, but fan patches and Project Nevada have vastly improved upon everything, while also giving you the ability to completely custom-tailor the gaming experience to what suits your style of role-playing, immersion, and combat.

SpooferJahk: I don't know, a major letdown must be very major in my books because I have played some pretty bad games in the past.

As for Silent Hill 4 the room, the gameplay was almost nothing like the previous games, the PC port was crap, buggy, and non-intuitive, the plot was pretty boring, and there was no thrill factor anymore. I don't know how anyone other than a 4 year old could have nightmares about this, but it was the breaker for me and the Silent Hill series. Also, it's tedious combat based, no emphasis on exploration or puzzles.

you are among the people who enjoy boring as hell headshot headshot headshot dead repeat combat in Fallout New Vegas, so what can I say.

and no, Silent Hill 4 wasn't combat focused, especially because many of the enemies were simply immortal. I did a lot more of running away than in any other silent hill game combined where I had 500 rounds of ammo and were just shooting everything in sight.

and maybe I was lucky, but I haven't encountered a single bug during my playthrough in any of the SH 2-4 games on the PC.

Haven't installed Project Nevada, it looks like Modern Warfare, most mods I add go for the survival, hardcore immersion side, combat is good but I don't like it that fast paced on Fallout games, that can be disabled and leave just the hardcore features from what you say, right?

If so I'm installing it this weekend, loved Fallout 3, the story was way better in my opinion, New Vegas is way more optimized of course.

Cheers.

You'll want to give Project Nevada another look then, because you have it completely back-assward. It's quite the opposite. It allows for more in-depth construction of items, weapon mods and ammo, rebalances, and true-irons sights, but all of these are individual options along with hundreds more, plus the massive amount of bug fixes. It's all about the immersion factor for me, to feel like I can actually roleplay in my environment. And I stay away from combat situations as much as possible and look for alternative solutions, so a game that let's me play a pacifist when possible really adds to immersion.

EDIT: After re-reading, you got it spot on in your final line. Yes, everything is optional. You can tone down the combat a lot if you like. It doesn't have to add anything there.

Again, I don't play games for combat. The mouse control in SH4 was frustrating, not at all like a PC game should be. The inconvenience of the "room" as the single save spot, also console-spawned garbage that doesn't belong in a PC game. And just because you ran away alot in the combat doesn't detract from the fact that the game was designed with combat as the main challenge in the game, instead of psychological head-thriller puzzles. Anyway, all I did was warn him to not get his hopes up man. You falll into the category of a huge fan of the series, so of course you like it. I was disappointed, being the type that thought SH 1-3 were fun, but nothing groundbreaking.

Will give Project Nevada a try some day.

Possibly this weekend I've been hell-like busy.

Good, that makes even more possible I get it running, thanks for the info, youtube videos never tell you the truth.

Cheers!

One quick question, is Project Nevada compatible with IMCNNV?

I haven't used IMCNNV before, but I did a little search on the nexus and found that as long as you put IMCNNV below PN Rebalance (which is an optional part of PN anyway) in your load order you should be good. The community at the nexus will be quite helpful for you if you do run into any compatibilty. As far as I've been playing, PN is one of the most compatible mods out there.

Excellent vulchor thanks once again, how "hardcore" are the PN Rebalance features? in your opinion of course.. if they're better thant IMCNNV then I find no reason to use IMCNNV. +1

PN includes everything I could think of for hardcore survival rules. Again, not being very familiar with IMCNNV, I'm not sure how they stack, but the thread I read where I found the compatibility issue had someone saying that PN had most everything IMCNNV did and more, so you can go by that. Here's the thread:
