dtgreene: I tried that game, but found that level ups were very stressful, and ended up quitting because of that reason.

It's the game that really cemented the notion that skill point systems are inherently flawed.

gog2002x: The time limiting elements (such as food) are probably one of the main things that had me put the game on pause. The skill system...could have used a few tweaks and maybe been a bit more generous.

I may have to tweak it a bit to restart it again. I hate to spend money on a game and not play it through, not unless I truly abhor the game.
.
Things that would have helped the skill system:
* Decoupling skill points from level ups would have really helped. At the very least, removing the "one point per skill per level" rule, and instead capping skills based on level, would have still made a difference.
* Skills like learning and the one that makes permanent stat ups give bonuses should be removed.
* Stat growth should be different. Perhaps giving everyone speed every level might have helped (or change the battle system so that high speed doesn't give you extra turms). Perhaps a system where it takes more points to raise stats to higher values, but you get more points per level, so a character with a horrible stat could fix it with a level up would help.
* Individual active abilities, particularly spells, should work differently. I'm thinking something like having the skills improve through use or take fewer skill points to improve might help. Also, the cost to use the skill shouldn't increase as it is leveled. I'm thinking, also, that hybrids shouldn't have to pay more for the same skill than the more focused classes; instead, the difference should be which skills are available and when.

As for food:
* It would be better if food only decreased when resting; this would allow food to be a limiting factor for rest (like it is in Nox Archaist, for example) while avoiding having it limit exploration. (This would make the danger of the desert irrelevant.)
* The skill that affects food consumption would be removed, as it would no longer be important.
(At least the food situation isn't as bad as in Ultima 7, where you have to *manually* feed your characters, reaching into your inventory (which is poorly set up in said game).)

Also, shops should either be non-random or easier to re-roll. Treasure should either be fixed or respawning. Enemy encounters should not be limited, so that the player can get into extra fights to get more XP and gold if they need to without limit.

While less critical, I think the game would have been better if you could create your *entire* party, rather than have one of the characters forced (and that character is always male, which is another thing I dislike, as it means I can't make an all female party).
I'm finishing Metro Last Light (probably today)and I started Divinity Original Sin, probably will take me a while to finish, but already love it, great combat system and character interactions!
The Incredible Adventures Of Van Helsing - Final Cut and I gave Foundation a try, but the first impression was not good. I will try it out some more.
Heroes of Might & Magic 3 GOG version with HD+ mod. I only tried the mod recently. It's much better than the HD version on Steam. They don't release the expansions for the HD version. Ubisoft's reason was that they didn't have the source code for complete version. That's BS. Someone found the source code and noticed Ubisoft. We haven't heard anything from Ubisoft. I think Ubisoft don't want to release the complete version because they want the fans buy their newer titles.
Newer titles are nowhere near as good as this classic HoMM3 and then add that annoying DRM platform UPlay.
After doing a ton of Hitman 3 and placing it back in "occasionally play contracts mode" territory I started replaying Hitman: Contracts. Game mostly holds up, and has such great atmosphere and music. It is honestly more immersive than the newest ones a lot of the time. Gameplay can be clunky but isn't all that different really, once you adjust to it.

Also playing the Resident Evil 3 Remake between Hitman levels. It really is a truncated RE2 expansion pack, huh? A lot more linear too, and the endless Nemesis fights get kinda annoying. Not saying it's bad really, just not great.
Fields of Glory II: Medieval. I love this game. Reminds me of a turn based version of Shadow of the Horned Rat, another game I fell in love with.
Not my favorite armies or kingdoms to play with. This one is North Europe, which has the British Isles to Tatar ruled lands and everything in between.
Now I am eagerly awaiting the first DLC, which I imagine will be South Europe, with Spain, the Italo-Normans, Byzantine and Crusader states, Turks and Muslims.

Getting into bigger battles now, which I thought would be more fun, but can be tedious instead. The mid and small sized battles are my favorite I think.
Mafia: Definitive Edition (Steam).

So far, it's been great. Some 8-9 hours in or so; somewhere in that ballpark.
Dead Cells - GOG

A good friend gifted me this game with some DLC. I'm having a great time with this game. I've been sharing some screenshots with her of my builds and progress. We've been talking back and forth about some of the boss battles and lore we've came across. I find this game to be more rouge-like than metroidvania since you can only revisit level upon death and not go back and forth like most metroidvania. Maybe the game just got mislabeled as such. Not sure. Either way it's excellent so far. The Hand of the King is an SOB.

SHING! - GOG

Another good one that I've been enjoying with my wife. We've had to get use to the thumbstick fighting mechanic by using our Logitech F710s on our HTPCs. We prefer to use our fightsticks for brawlers and such but no dice with this game which is the only downside. Very fun game. We currently at the end right now.

Celeste - itch.io

Another great game. I played and ended the Pico-8 version but I finally got my hands on the latest release and been enjoying this one also. My wife and I take turns playing it and she been into it also.

Zombie Army 4: Dead War - Stadia

Been running the weekly challenges on Saturday along with some Horde events on Brutal mode with friends and family. One of the best online co-op experiences in the last few years next to Risk of Rain 2.
Just started Shadowhand_RPG_Card_Game. For me, it's a well-made solitaire game. The best solitaire game I've played so far. Though it seems I can't unlock the achievements offline.

It's from the same developer of Regency Solitaire, which I haven't bought yet, and is also an excellent solitaire game.

the battles offered in sengoku jidai feel more advanced ...... and certainly on a bigger scale, still not sure what the difference is, had some major battles in empires which in the end i stopped exporting since, the tedious factor and the ingame battle resolution somehow manages to portray historic battles in a more realistic manner

I should play that one, I like the period. I have Pike and Shot, and I think the period is interesting, but the combat as a game can be a little boring once you get into the turcios.

Calvary is definitely king here, so you have to like knights I guess. Maybe you will like the later medieval period better?
As for realism, What strikes me is as a player you have way too much control.
Starting to get into Prey. It's getting pretty good, although the setting does feel more like a downtown office building that rented some space to a scientific research firm than a space station :p Those little, fast-moving mimic creatures are annoying.
Finished-up Mafia 1: Definitive Edition and Mafia 3: Definitive Edition - Stones Unturned DLC.
Loved all of what I just listed.
Grinding and stacking boosts on top of each other -- Runescape. I bought a fortnight's worth of game time again. I may not even last the whole two weeks, we will see.

Oh, and I did not pay with real money but ingame money.

Played a bit of Bloodstained Classic Mode. Beat stage 2 on 1986 Normal difficulty, and I unexpetedly got damage boosted; I got hit mid-jump, and the knockback put me onto a higher platform.

So, this sort of damage boosting, found in the original Castlevania, is alive and well in Bloodstained Classic Mode.

(Of course, you *do* need to watch your health if you're going to do this deliberately, or else you may run out of health and die.)
