VanishedOne: It turns out the 'Forum discussion' link on https://www.gog.com/game/mirrors_edge does indeed point here. :-/ One of the various gamecards that don't have that link set up correctly.
Yeah, the links on the product page are highly unreliable... One must always go to the subforums directly, lest he be deceived by mischievous GOGBears.

Mischievous? I think they're trying to entertain us with these random guess-the-game threads xD
I have been wondering what this JPfix for Mirror's Edge was as well. It is a legitimate question.
Yes, the Mirror's Edge forum link does actually point here. I'm not at fault. I hope that answers your legitimate question Dogmaus. No harm done. We've conversed before and I know you are a helpful person. I appreciate that.

But the same can't be said for the effeminate keyboard hardass who's name I won't mention but we all see here.

If I could have deleted this post I would have. Unfortunately GOG with all it's wisdom doesn't support doing so.

Maybe if people didn't "jump the gun" and checked for themselves, they would actually find out the truth. But enough of this. I found my answer.

Whatever the jpfix was, it fixed my problem and the game now installs fine.

Thank you.

The new contents in the JPfix version are hinted by the characters "JP". It provides additional an additional language for the game: Japanese.

The current GOG listing boasts Japanese text and language. These are missing from MaGoG's database whose last update predates this patch.

For the benefits of being able to play in a language you can't understand, gogdb lists the download size as having increased by 842MB.

Dogmaus: Genuine question: why didn't you.use that subforum?
The reason appears to be Galaxy. It apparently pushes people to the General Forum when they want to discuss about some particular game, making them think he/she/it is actually in the relevant game subforum.

Some Galaxy user can confirm, I wouldn't know as I don't use Galaxy.

Oh! Good catch.

I didn't even remember those game cards had those forum links, but yeah at least that one is pointing to the general forum. I thought the Galaxy client also had the tendency to push people to the general forum, not the subforums.

I see what's happening with some users being even downvoted for that reason. GOG is GOG. It's a mess because they rightfully don't even mention the game's name. Now I know it's not their fault. I would never thing of using Galaxy for the forums, they are as bad as they are in my browser already, and at least I can use Barefoor Essentials and Adalia Fundamentals here.
