I think Minesweeper is a system seller for Windows 3.1 and don't like it because there are too many 50/50 guess squares.
Generally enjoyable. I would start game after game randomly clicking to get a large swath of cleared area. I hated starting with like two squares uncovered. And speaking of which, whiny gamers today about the RNG, how about half you games end in death on the first click due to sheer randomness. Pansies.

demonwyrm: I tried a 3D version that basically turns the whole board into a cube
That sounds really confusing.

My impression is that if one clicks on the center of the board as a first move it usually uncovers a fairly large area.
I don't think it's possible to die on the first click, at least in the Windows 7 version (may have been different in earlier versions).

Nope. On Windows 3.1 up to XP (the ones I played) and Windows Entertainment Pack, you could never die on first click.

Last I played was windows 3.1, ha! Frequently a click would get you a few uncovers at most. I could see how they can fix the first click death thing, easy enough. But managing the first click uncover, I have to figure that remains a crap shoot. I wonder when the last version was released.

And to think there were once talks of a Sims movie and everybody thought it was a stupid idea because the game didn't have enough content.
