I was more of a Solitaire guy, but I enjoyed Minesweeper too.

I'm not sure I ever actually won a game on Expert, nevermind won quickly. I'd generally lose patience after a certain point and start taking risks (or reach a point where it was 50/50 chance to be right or wrong).

But Solitaire, I was awesome at that. I think my best was winning a game in about 90 seconds or something. I did have a screenshot of my highest score but it's long gone now I think.
I miss Space Cadet.

I know it's freeware somewhere right now, but it's just not the same. :P
Its an office plankton's version of chess.

AB2012: It's a classic. Try Mines Perfect - a clone with the option of custom sized and hexagonal, triangle, etc, shaped boards.
That sounds interesting, apparently does away with the luck factor that bothers me...thanks for the link!

ive nevah head of it?
Hmm, are you sure you're a true gamer then?

Respect to the people who beat it in under two minutes...I don't think I'll ever get that good :-)

Shufflepuck Café. Those were fun times.

babark: A month or two back, I got a recorded score of 87 seconds. Diminishing returns on continued play :D
I won it in a few secs instead.. by editing the old plaintext scores file. XD
Lol but seriously, congrats for the speedrun.

EDIT: wait a second, clicking on the numbers highlighted the tiles? O_o

No. Left+Right click on numbers, opened all unmarked towns around it IF the number of marked tiles matched.

e.g. there is a number 2 (hehehe). If you mark 2 mines around it then left+right click on the number all unmarked tiles around it are opened. Of course if the tiles you marked are not mines, then one of the opened tiles are mines and you lose.
anyone ever try to play that game drunk? :P

Drunk? It's much better on LSD or possibly shrooms.

my friends never let me have hallucinogenics. They did them all the time but said I was way too high strung so they forbid it.
Shallow and frustrating, but more complete and valuable than a mobile game.
I like it. In a similar vain as sudoku for me.
i saw some hexagonal minesweeper some time too.

The best simple game for me is Tetris though.
I used to play it a lot many years ago, can't remember my best score in each difficulty though. It's a nice game. :)

With some luck, anyone should be OK to finish the hardest level of Minesweeper.

And like babark have said, speed run and finish the game is not uncommon.

Minesweeper is very addictive, so I think it is a great classic game.
