Read my reply to McMicro above: Teceem likely isn't doing it....it's very likely forum trolls trying to make you think Teceem did it.

GamezRanker: It's not him....of that I am pretty certain....mainly because trolls have done it re: me and others before.

One of the tactics of the trolls on this site(that i've seen) is to high rate one user, and low rate everyone else....they did it to me and several others before.

(example: I once saw them high rate all posts by me in a thread, while near everyone else got low rated)
Really, do you have a link I'd like to see it.

It's been awhile, and I forget which thread it was......might take a bit to find it. If and when I do, i'll link it here. Still searching for the exact thread(s), though.

Please keep it up this is good stuff. I still have my suspicions about teceem though.

yep has to be someone active on this forum

Fair enough....it's human nature to be suspect of some things. That, btw, is why the trolls likely use that tactic....to sow confusion and suspicion among the user base as they "hide behind the scenes".

(it is likely the ones who did such didn't even post to the thread, and are sitting back watching people point fingers at one another)

I have some feeling on what user(s) it might be...problem is, I lack hard proof, and one sadly cannot convince GOG to offer assistance without said proof.

I'm thinking that I may take the following approach:
* I will still buy games from GOG.
* If a game is available on GOG and itch.io for the same price, and there's no other reason to prefer one over the other, I think I'll now default to the itch.io version.

This would mean that, for this sale, something like this:
* I get the Castlevania/Contra collection from GOG. (I remember seeing the collection on Amazon back in the day and sort-of want it; even if it's not the best collection, it will work as a historical relic, and will be the first time I get a legal copy of the original Contra. (I have a Castlevania 3 cartridge somewhere, and the NES Classic Mini has the rest.)
* I buy Alwa's Awakening/Legacy (2 games) from itch.io . Note that, if you don't count the huge bundle, I have far more games on GOG than itch.io, and I'm pretty sure my default was GOG before, but I think I may change that. (The only game I bought from itch.io and have actively played is Celeste.)

The rating system of posts is inherently toxic. The only way to do anything about it is to delete it out of the forums 100%. GOG could easily do that, and definitely should. They should have already done it years ago, in fact. And they should still do it right now too.

If you have paypal, zoom platform is DRM free as well, and has offline installers and no client. :)

As for the rest of your post that I snipped: seems reasonable

Or just make it upratings only...that would also work.
(people could click report as spam or report to mods if a post is bad/spam)

Or they could figure out a way to block the scripts and bots trolls are likely using to low rate...as that's where most of the r-e-p abuse likely comes from.

it is , i bet this forum is nothing more to gog than an old feature yet to be cut and a platform to share their sales and invite to twitter

He doesn't have to. The forum moderators have allowed blatant troll accounts free reign in the forums since the Devotion delisting. While largely censoring actual users.

to be honest, bioware ended up deleting their forums because they were mostly ashamed of their more hardcore audience and the stuff they posted. some bioware people actually said they avoided even thinking about the forums. I still think gog doesn't really need forums, the idea of a "community" is kinda weird imo

That is indeed an opinion, though it is a known fact that a welcoming community can actually help in sales figures. Nice stories about game accomplishments, Sharing screenshots with one and another, discussing the new upcoming games etc.

1 or 2 trolls are not of a problem but to many differences together and you have already a formation bound to go wrong at a certain point.

Therefore extensive modding is actually needed from a keepers standpoint if the choice is made to have a place for your community.

And do not forget GoG and Bioware are 2 complete different organizations

I bought Kingdom Come: Deliverance, ELEX, Pillars of Eternity 2, Divinity: Original Sin 2, The Witcher 3, Expeditions: Viking, Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2, Space Rangers HD: A War Apart, Mount & Blade: Warband and King of Dragon Pass.

Might still pick something up before the end of the year.
