Mine: Things like rap and dubstep are not "music". Also don't know those songs mentioned above but I'm pretty sure they go into my "not really music" category

Everything is music! And nothing is...

But here's a guess... you don't like music with electronic instruments? And that would be perfectly fine... I'm not here to judge!

Non musical music? I can think of many examples, a lot more 'extreme' than Aphex Twin. Here's a documentary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKPFggCNt_o
Me, I love that stuff!

anyway - The HU is a brilliant band

I listened to metal a whole lot, for several years, until I eventually found out it sucks and it's a musical dead end stuck in a loop of metalheads demanding it to be as samey as possible and metal bands delivering the same shit over and over not to displease the metalheads that demand the same shit over and over. And the bands being metalheads themselves have literally 0 aspiration to make anything different. (that's the short version, I'm not feeling like explaining in detail why there's absolutely no imagination or musical invention in metal in general)

Also, overall terrible fucking metalhead community. A shut in and bizarrely hateful crowd that's circlejerking it over the same shit to no end, jerking it over some pretty toxic shit, and hatejerking it over anything that is not metal, all pretending like they actually know anything about music, especially about music that is not metal. (also a short version)

Thanks for all the downvotes, friends :D. Also join me in a giveaway https://www.gog.com/forum/general/birthday_2

Nickelback is far, faaaaar from being the worst band out there, and frankly I don't understand where this reputation comes from. I don't think they're particularly good either, but come on. There's shit out there that makes them sound like Rolling Stones in comparison.

The Living Daylights is the best Bond song.

Stan Ridgway is criminally underrated.

A lot of the, shall we say, veneer of heavy metal - all the leather, studs, skulls, album covers with demons stuff etc. - always felt a bit try hard and poser-ish to me.

It died with Elvis.

Uh... more seriously, but still not... seriously... sheesh, that's a tough call.

Maybe... the Backstreet Boys' output overall was/is quality and no amount of "ugh, that's cringe - boy bands are trash" nonsensery is going to change my mind.
Richard David James is not a genius.
low rated
Electric guitar is a bad instrument and should never be used. (In fact, that instrument gives me headaches, which means I often can't listen to music that contains it.)

Non-melodic percussion should be used sparingly; it should be used as an accent or color, and there should not be a constant drum beat. (Rule of thumb: Can one easily play a C major scale on a percussion instrument? If you can, it's melodic, otherwise it's not. Rule might not necessarily work for non-western folk instruments.)

In concert band music, brass, particularly trumpets, should be used sparingly. For example, trumpets should not be given the melody unless it's a climactic point in the piece, or if one wants a specific color at a specific point.

This might sound ridiculous, but I actually enjoy the clarinet's altissimo register. Those pitched squeaks are fun to play. (By the way, I think "pitched squeaks" is actually a good term for it.)

More people should take up oboe and bassoon; they're nice instruments. (It's too bad they're quite expensive.)

What would you say about the works of John Cage? Is his famous work 4'33" music? (He claims it is, I believe, but this question has been debated by musicologists.)

In my case, it's certain electronic sounds, like the electric guitar, that I have a problem with.

8-bit chiptunes are not an issue for me (though I don't like it when there's constant percussion, especially when it comes at the expense of harmony or counterpoint), but 16-bit tunes can sometimes cause issues, at least when they start to mimic the electric guitar. (Comix Zone's soundtrack is one offender here.)

NES music is better than Sega Genesis muisc, as far as the instruments are concerned. (This is independent of how well the music is composed; it wouldn't be hard to find an NES game with worse music than Phantasy Star 4, for example.)

Final Fantasy has a good soundtrack with many great tracks; Battle on the Big Bridge is not one of them. (With that said, the FF12 orchestral remake of that particular tune is good.)

AC/DC is the worst, every song sounds the same. The singer sounds like he is constipated at all times.

Really? Highway to Hell sounds like The Jack which sounds like Whole Lotta Rosie? If you said their material after 1981, sure. But... nah!

Though, I would say the same for rap, hip hop and every other regurgitated electronic nonsense that people call music. The same tedious vocal line with the same cheap sounding programmed bass and drums. It's just endless annoyance. Calling it music is an insult to musicians who can actually play.
In most cases I prefer mixes/remixes as they tend to be better than the original. And, modern rap is just crap.

sanscript: In most cases I prefer mixes/remixes as they tend to be better than the original. And, modern rap is just crap.
What I have found is that many of the remixes, at least those that come up on Youtube, are worse than the original because of things like:
* Introduction of electric guitar when the original didn't have it
* Getting rid of the counter-melody and/or counterpoint, leaving just the melody
* In some cases, even omitting the melody or waiting too long to introduce it. (One example of this is Celeste's Chapter 7 B-side music, which has very little melody, even though the original (A-side) has a strong melody,)

(The other half of your post I have no problem with.)
