Oh, one of the most funny movie of the last decade, in my opinion :

John Dies at the End - Don Coscarelli 2012

Totally crappy special effects (I mean it) but original story, great and slightly crazy characters, this movie has been a huge surprise.

agogfan: I wholeheartedly agree! I've just finished watching it for the 3rd time.

Although it's ending is a little sad, but that's a mark of its brilliance as one ends up feeling emotional about an AI character when logically one shouldn't, exactly the dilemma experienced by George Clooney's character.

Jeez, that fuckin' movie! I watched that (or rather, tried to) on a flight. Couldn't make it past the 30 minute mark. I always appreciated Stiller's work as a director. Cable Guy is criminally underrated and Tropic Thunder (2008) deserves another spot on the list. But after Zoolander 2, Stiller has a lot to make up for.

I concede to never have watched Tropical Thunder yet, so the only really worthwhile Ben Stiller movie I've seen was


Night at the Museum (Shawn Levy, 2006)

Stereotypes are broad and it's really not a complex story in there, but the cast is simply wonderful. I especially dug choosing Ben Stiller's mom Anne Meara as his in-movie employment agent. Imagine the nightmare!

I think it was a tad overrated but still worth it for Tom Cruise, and no I'm not joking. His performance in that movie will blow your mind. :P

How could we have missed this one until now? That was a brilliant piece of art. I ... would have framed the ending differently, I'll say. :|

No, I haven't, but thanks for the recommendation, I might check them out.
I sort of expected that The Departed wasn't nearly as good as the Infernal affairs movies, judging from reviews Jack Nicholson's performance seems to have been a bad case of over-acting...but then most Hollywood remakes of foreign movies probably don't compare favorably with the originals.
